EG? That's me!
Searching Dante's Inferno for the words "Guelph" and "Ghibellin" turns up a 1:2 ratio, both found in Paradiso; I'd have to conclude that labor is only 33 percent part of any mentioning.
Adhere to the bon mot "What was true yesterday will likely be true tomorrow" and go about being industrious and everythiing'll be hunkydory.

Winner - Victor

snake - asp
not sure about the 'onge' bit (edit: anagram of gone)
Victoria Sponge has jam in the middle hence sandwich.

Can I get 28 small oblong guesses for this one please...
I will have the answer from 0 - 6 pips for each half guess I make. I will work with a strategy of elimination, all the wrong answers will fall over one by one like it is in a row.

Just watched Curtain: Poirot's Last Case.
Forceful performance and very sad.
25 years and the era is over.
No-one else could play him again in my lifetime.

Atcherley, the last ever Poirot story was "Elephants Can Remember", in 1972. "Curtain" was written during WW2.
All this is is the last of one of the (presumably endless) re-interpretation TV series.
Someone else will be playing him in a couple of years (because, God knows, no-one in the TV biz can write original work, any more), and that will be the definitive rendition (until that ends and another definitive rendition comes along).

1. Stop calling him Atcherley. (Sorry about that non-allCaps shout.)
2. I agree.
3. The next definitive rendition will have the style of the day, but won't necessarily be better and usually it is worse.
4. I am especially appreciative of the "Elephants Can Remember" title. It is similar to my next TV drama which is titled "Sunshine's don't forget".
5. I have a few friends who are crazy about Poirot. Personally, I just can't trust a man, or a woman, who has a moustache like that, or indeed hair like that.
6. The stories are good.
Why a bread knife?

Ain't that the truth.
Suchet is a great actor, but I can't stand the character of Poirot.
