No, not superstitious.
Just sad that I forgot what a Hamiltonian matrix was.

Toss the vegemite, and get some that isn't fermented, Chris. Tell her she can do all my tensor operations if she wants. I've got a book on the subject I've been trying to read since 1976 without success, so she might as well have at it.

Never had vegemite, so I don't get it. Seems a brit/aussie thing. You are boss.

Vegemite is a byproduct of the brewing process, the sludge left at the bottom after they pour the beer out - or so I've read. I can't imagine even trying it, but in some parts of the world it's considered a staple. I've never seen it in the US.

Hi All,
Having a week off, doing jobs 'around' the house, I think I have found the ideal method of growing a strong healthly lawn. Concrete the area you want as a lawn spend an age getting it perfectly flat, then drop or otherwise cause a crack to the surface, wait six to nine months and you will have a thick luscious lawn!

Sounds like my patio, which is made up of simple pavers. I have weeds, small maple and pine trees, and couple invasive species growing up between the pavers. It's a PITA to clean up several times a year.

I put hardy backer boards under my pavers. This lets you power wash the cracks without undermining the dirt

Yeah, if I ever feel energetic I'll take up the pavers and do something like that.

After the paver installation … clean it out and caulk the seams…
???
Seems like there could be repercussions that I am not foreseeing

Not a bad idea, if I ever decide to it again I'll give it a go!

very good idea. I am using thick layers of sand and gravel, but hardy board is better. just like stone.

I thought spraying green paint on the lawn is the best way to make it healthy, just kidding, I have been seeing a lot of people doing that on their lawn.

Living in New Orleans, grass, and weeds (not the smoking kind) grow incredibly thick and fast. You have to hack them back in self-defense.
When I lived in Charlotte NC, folks had an extremely difficult time to get their lawns to grow at all. Not exaggerating too much.
I would do the concrete painted green thing, but SWMBO won't hear of it.

I just got my car insurance renewal notice, and expecting the worst I opened it.
£3.09 less than last year ... and t'interwebs says insurance has risen by £68 a year on average since April ... plus second hand car values are still climbing post Covid.
And I haven't crossed any magical age barriers: I was 62 last year, and I'm still 63 this year; I live in the same place; drive the same car; still work from home; have max no-claims.
That just doesn't happen: Insurance only goes down when you switch companies!
And it's probably not worth my time looking round for a better deal: it's less than £200 for the year already with protected no-claims and windscreen cover - so I'll save maybe an extra couple of quid if I'm lucky.

I would read the small print very carefully - what coverage did they remove?
