I am actually writing some code today. Real code, for a real product. As it is mine, I might even make an article of it at some point in the future.
Why go mad? It is taking an very old app, that has finally died, and rewriting it. VB6 to Java, joys untold.

I know, VB6 is a sh*tty language and bever really worked, which is why I'm only now reporting a 10 year old project. It was a semi-favour job I did and it is from far mission critical but the software works and could possibly last a bit longer unchanged if it wasn't for a big change in the company. They have got a big bithca system in for most of the critical work and it all runs on a Linux box, my VB6 app would need an extra box running WinX to keep it going.
So we've decided to port it to run on Linux and given a choice between C++ and Java, I know which will be quicker. By the end of the week the coding will be done. Hard work!
