I agree, the whole moon theme does seem to limit the possibilities quite dramatically. I suppose I could have been more creative and used moon for the clue, rather than the answer though...

You have Charon the moon[^], and you have Charon the ferryman[^], who in Greek mythology would accept payment in return for passage for the dead across the river Styx. Some sources claim that this payment would be in the form of a silver coin (or two).
