NOTE: This will be the last month of the MQOTD on very regular basis. From 2017 onwards, I will probably occasionally post one, but after 4 years of pretty continuous quotes it's time to concentrate on other things in life. So the MQOTD will not die, it will just be on a less frequent pace.

I've had a thermos flask implode on me once. I half-filled a flask with very hot coffee. This heated the air above it, and the increase in air pressure was enough to break the glass lining, causing the vacuum to implode.
