Hi, Does anyone know how to get client info regarding pc name, domain, etc. I need to gather that info from users on a local intranet using an internal website. I need to authenticate the user against the domain Active Directory.

The you need to run an ActiveX component in the browser.
Why not just disallow anonymous login and let the users log in using their domain account?

I need automatic login when the user opens the web page. And security group levels should be managed by the admins of the AD. What kind of active x componet should i use, and this should run client side?? or not?

 ASP.NET Dynamic Web Menu Control based on JavaScript
I need a program which should read a Table and get Menu's Name and Dynamically create buttons in the "Top Frame" and i click any one button then it should display that relevant page in the "Right Frame" which is also in another one table.

I think what you're trying to do is get your popup to circumvent a popup blocker....wouldn't be much of a blocker if you could do that now would it
AFAIK, popup blockers pre-process the page, and strip out most (if not all) of the javascript - esp anything that pops up a window, then renders the page. If you elect to allow popups, it re-renders with the missing bits et voila (that's why it posts back when you allow them).
You'll just have to tell people to unblock your site

I heard there is no IIS in home edition, is it true? how about the professional and NT version? how do i active the IIS function?

It is true. IIS comes with XP Pro and Windows 2000 but is installed optionaly. It comes by default with all server editions of Windows... I am not sure if it comes with NT Workstation (I dont remember)!

In pro, go to add remove programs in the control panel and then click on the windows components, choose to install IIS there.

That is true.
how about the professional and NT version?
Professional versions have IIS. In NT Server 4, IIS is part of the option pack.

You need to use a graphics program like Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, et al to make the curves, then chop them up and use them in an tag or as a background image. It's not easy....

Is it possible to execute a C++ console application through perl.We have a windows console application which needs to be run recursively at specified interval ,and the output from stdout to be collected.
Since the framework we are integrating with this application, provides interfaces through perl script,we wanted to explore if the above option is possible.
If yes,samples or links will be very helpful.

Can you call SDK functions from Perl? If so, there's a ShellExecute function which will run pretty much anything you want....

Hi all,
I'm developing an application that allows the user to test a SSH connection. To perform the test, I'm using AJAX to send the request to the server with address, user and password.
What I want to do is to get progress indications to the user while the server makes the necessary test to the connection. I was hoping to get messages to the user like: "Connecting", "Verifying login information", etc.
In my approach, I'm flushing these messages in the server side script (PHP), and wanted to parse them within the "onreadystatechange" function while the "readyState == 3" (loading mode).
The problem is that in IE the "responseText" is empty in this stage but it works fine in Mozilla. As for the "responseXML" property, works in IE but I get a XML parsing error in Mozzila (because the document tag is not yet closed).
Does anyone have any suggestion regarding this or any other approach in order to achieve the same output?

Check the status code, if that's cool then just compose an appropriate message client-side. Be aware: last i checked, IE, Fx, Opera and Safari all have subtly different takes on what readyState really means... (don't ask me which ones are compatible just now though) so don't be letting on that it's ok to (for instance) close the browser window until you have absolute confirmation (readyState == 4).
Oh, and if you have a really long-running process, you're probably better off setting things up such that multiple requests/responses are performed to update the status text, rather than relying on a single request pending for x minutes.

if you're using PHP, just use
header("location: http://www.domain.com/file.extension");
don't think it's possible in plain ol' HTML though.
