Hi All,
Little help needed.
I have a datagrid, and I want a functionality for color change of row when "onclick" event occur.
I am able to change the color of the row when "onclick" event occur.
e.item.attribute.add("onclick","this.style.backgroundColor='red'")
But, When I click on another row, I want to deselect the previously selected row.
I tried some code with javascript, but no luck yet.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

no, i am not using property builder. bz i need to pass values of selected datagrid row to client side java script function in order to avoid second server trip.

Hi there,
IMO, you can use an hidden box to store the lastest row id selected by user
So whenever an row is clicked, you just set the the row who has the same id as the id stored in the hidden box to the original color...

Has anyone used custom classes to tie to the GridView, FormView, or DetailsView?
I heard theres a lot of events that have to be implemented. Would you have a link that explains each event that should be implmeneted?
Please no answers telling me to use ADO.NET or anything related to ADO.NET.
I am looking for examples of custom classes not inheriting any classes related to ADO.NET. <-- as you can tell I don't like to use it
If you know the answer or links I would greatly appreciate it.

And to re-iterate. If you don't know or understand how, please dont answer. I am looking for answers that understands what I am talking about. And if you think your way is better by using ADO.NET please keep it to yourself. Datasets are bulky and will not accomplish what is needed effeciently in a DAL situation. I don't feel like getting into another argument with anyone else.

Why use ADO.Net when you can over complicate things and write your own classes? I love making things harder then they need to be.

Actually sorry for being rude. But, telling me to not use classes to represent data make no sense. And I said to please not give me answers related to ADO.NET.
Im interested in a more advanced and true oop representation of data that you are not used to.
And I can make my classes using generics just as fast as you can. Maybe even faster using Generics.
So please read the question next time.

You can use Typed Datasets (as a DAL) then make a classes for business logic that your presentation layer will actually talk to. With the right attributes you can make it so you can set methods as datasources for GridViews and the such. Here are some good overviews:

Have you had a look at the object data source in .net 2.0? As far as i know, any class that implements IEnumerable can be bound to a .net control like a gridview - it's very simple.

Actually. I was just annoyed that people who dont know what thier talking about give me answers that are wrong anyways. And it had nothing to do with the question.
But, for the Views(gridview, formview, and detailview) Dino Esposito briefly mentioned in one of his books that you have to extend more than the IEnumerable interfaces. That only works with the data grid.

How many types of assemblies are there and what are there in asp.net?

Hi,
In .NET the assemblies are
1)Static Assemblies
-Private assemblies->private assemblies are created where you build the components into DLL that can be applied to one application.
-Shared Assemblies->Shared aseemblies are shared by multiple application.They are stroed in Global Assembly Cache.The GAC is located in the Assembly directory in WinNT.
2)Dynamis Assemblies->Created by using System.Reflection namespace
3)Satellite Assemblies->used Localization and Globalization
When you wish to localize the application (make the application customizable for different languages and cultures), it can be written in culture-neutral code (code that uses resources from an assembly rather than hard-coding the resources in the program) and distribute the localized modules in separate assemblies called satellite assemblies.
To create the satellite assemblies, you will use the al.exe utility (Assembly Linker) to link your resource file to an assembly, as shown in this example:
al /t:library /embed:strings.en.resources /culture:en /out:MyApp.resources.dll
The /t option will direct al to build a library,
and the /embed option identifies the file to be linked.

Hi,
I have the small doubt.When reading about @Import directive,By default, only certain namespaces are automatically imported into an ASP.NET page. If you want to refer to a class that isn't a member of one of the default namespaces, then you must explicitly import the namespace of the class or you must use the fully qualified name of the class.
I think we can achieve this functionality by specifing the namespace with USING like
Using System.Data;
Then what is the difference between USING and @Import or Both are same.

The @Import directive allow to add reference to a namespace in the web page .aspx, when it gets compiled the @Import directive is translated to the using in C# or Imports in VB.NET depending on the language you choose for the web page.

I have a doubt... In my page i have a three controls a menu control, multiview control, a view controls inside the multiview.When the user clicks in the menu control the view index changes to another with postback.
I dont want the postback.... i need to manage the MenuControl with Callback but i don't know manipulate the menu control with JScript?
Someone could tell me where I find info about that?

Hi , i want to add a checkbox to my gridview just ike in the hotmail gridview  see that checkbox ? i want exactly to dothe same thing
when checking that checkbox i want to select the line that thiss checkbox belong to
i added a field into my table with a bit type and i got the checkbox but it is disabled & i can't check it
