How about open windows explorer and use folder option to show all file?

If you have a copy of a LiveLinux bootable from CDROM (you may need to change your boot sequence in BIOS), then you might just be able to see what you have lost or hidden. If so, you may be able to rescue them to a USB pen drive or to CD/RW.
If your PC is formatted to FAT32 rather than NTFS then you might be able to rescue them to your PC. As far as I am aware, LiveLinux can read NTFS but not write to NTFS.

Thanks a lot. I have used system restore and everything is fine.
Actually there is young man in my office once I leave my PC, he comes and start copying files from my pc so I did hide the desktop as to prevent him doing so.

You could try grabbing him by the neck (or elsewhere as appropriate) with firm instructions that he is not to touch your PC under threat of further pain.
You could take the more usual security steps to forbid access to your PC by, for instance, having the need to log on with username and password that you only know and closing your system down at end of working day, but you could also password protect your system's BIOS so a password would be required before windows boots. If you are not permitted to switch-off your system, then introduce a password protected screensaver.
I am sure there are other things you could do, but security (or the lack of) appears to be a primary concern at your workplace. Perhaps you should speak to your boss about this situation. If this lad can gain access, who else gains unauthorised access to confidential information.

Hi,
i wrote a service process that configured to be automatic on system startup.
It worked fine till i upgraded my XP to SP2.
It won't start on automatic startup, but manualy it will start.
The event viewer report for error event-id 7009 (Timeout (name milliseconds) waiting for service to connect.).
Does anyone know how can i solve that problem?

Well, i didn't mention that my service loads a dll for system-wide keyboard hooking (using SetWindowsHookEx function with WH_KEYBOARD_LL parameter).
I commented out the hooking and the service started on system startup.
It seems that there is a problem to hook from service on XP SP2 till the you login.
Do you know something about that?

i have dll which i can register in one computer, using regsvr32 c:\name.dll but at the other computer (with fresh installation of xp) i cant register the same dll
i get the folowing error - module not found... eventhough it's there!

Use the depends tool to see what other DLLs your DLL is trying to load when it registers.

hey Frnds ..
i was playing with open with option. i changed my default open option with some other application. now i am unable to restore it.i have tried with explorer.exe but it is not giving me the desired behaviour

with what kind of file extension have you played ?
to restore it, you can go into this :
open a windows explorer
click on Tools > Folders Options...
select the "Files Types" Tab
go to the file type you modified
there, select the action you want to do. if you cannot change by hand, then delete the file association. when you'll try to open such a file type next time, windows will ask you which application to use to open it.

Before you changed those settings, did you take a restore point ? if so you could revert to an earlier setting, if not, look at restore point history and try restoring to a date just prior to when your settings were changed.
Failing that, sounds like you need to dig into the registry and change settings there. But be careful, make the wrong setting could cause your PC to die.
