If you want to open the application on the server,the same code should apply. However this will fail unless you change the permissions;
Doing this on the client is more difficult.
One way of doing it is to install a protocol for the application. Another one would be using an ActiveX control.

Dear All,
I am using ASP.NET 1.1 version. I am using the below connection string. My database server name is "KUMAR" & Database name "AIMS" and I am using "Windows Authentication".
constr="workstation id=KUMAR;packet size=4096;user id=sa;integrated security=SSPI;data source=KUMAR;persist security info=False;initial catalog=AIMS";<br />
<br />
SqlConnection con=new SqlConnection(constr);
I am getting error in the below code:
con.Open();
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Login failed for user 'SETHU\ASPNET'.
Can any one help me to solve this? I believe that my Connection String is not well formed.
(Note: I have just copied it from the auto generated connection string, while configuring the SqlDataAdapter)
Regards,
Jay

Where is the password i think you have put it
pwd=sa;
con=("server=(local);user id=sa;pwd=sa;database=pubs")
or
con=("server=(local);integrated security=true;database=pubs")

Why? Are you trying to hack this guy's site and gain access to his server?

Please do not follow that advice. Do not make ASPNET a member of the administrators group. It will open your server up to all sorts of security concerns. If an ASP.NET application has any flaws in it (and there is no such thing as bug free code) then an attacker could gain access to your entire machine with Admin privileges. You do not want to give an attacker this kind of access.

That is the most stupidly absurd response I've seen. Please, for everyone's sake, learn about security.
The ASPNET account should not now and not ever be given administrator privileges.

Thanks Mr.Colin
Now I know the vulnerability of this kind of replies. Without that knowlege, I have tried that one. Thanks a lot for your valuable info to all.

The message you referenced here was deleted. Are you seriously saying that some idiot recommended blowing the security wide open? What the hell are these people thinking?
the last thing I want to see is some pasty-faced geek with skin so pale that it's almost translucent trying to bump parts with a partner - John Simmons / outlaw programmer
Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

In answer to your first question: Yes. They recommended adding the ASPNET machine account to the Administrators group
In answer to your second question: No idea.

You'll have to give the SETHU\ASPNET user permissions to your database.

Dear Sir,
How to set the Permission? Kindly give me the guidance.
Server Name : SETHU
DataBase : AIMS
Logged In as : Administrator

Well, that depends on your SQL version. I tend to use Enterprise Manager and add the user and permissions via the usual manner.
Google will provide specific details for your SQL version.

Hi all
i have many categories and each Category have set of Checkboxes
the business rule is that whenever i click the Category then all its members(Checkboxes) should get selected . Please tell me how to do that ?
|
|
|
|
|
Hi!
One way is to call a function when the categorycheckbox is changed that does something like this. This assumes that all the checkboxes for one category is in the same container (ex. div)
function CheckAllBoxes(){
var mycheckboxes = document.getElementById("mycheckboxcontainer").getElementsByTagName('input');
for(var i=0; i<mycheckboxes.length; i++){
mycheckboxes[i].checked = true;
}
}
I hope this helps.
