Yeah, on occasion, doing a refresh is a lot faster than submitting, and on others it's just as slow. So a GUID solution might be better.

I don't think I particularly like the ads and sections on the right hand side.
Is there a way to configure it the way I want it?

No. We will control the horizontal. We will control the vertical. For the next hour, sit quietly and we will control all that you see and hear. You are about to experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner mind to... CodeProject with CPhog...
In short, we're goofing off. We don't care that others might not like the navbar over there or that it has a class of "LHNavBar" for a reason.
(In all seriousness, once again, this is an area where we need a way to edit settings. I'd love to make this a user pref...but there's no UI to let you change it. Unfortunately, there aren't enough hours in the day. You want to try your hand at some JS hacking? )

I think I'll need some kind of illegal substance to conjure up some energy just to open an editor right now. This week has been very busy.

Yeah...the lightbox. That's what I'm working on right now, actually...but I haven't really decided how I want to do it yet.

Your reply reminds me of Sid Meier's Civilization. Yesterday was Celebrate The Mayor Day, and today it's civil unrest...

It bugged me for about a day, but now I don't even notice the bar way over there.

It's great, isn't it? I only look over there for the forum watch now.

Well, I mean it bugged me that the bar was in a different place than before. The contents of the bar never bugged me. (I block ads so I never see them anyway.)

You seem pretty hung up on that guy...

It was a nasty shock and it'll take me a few more days to recover from the scar.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have been meaning to install that for a while now.

When you click on a username, you get the preview on the left-hand side. How about you add our own info under the forum watch list and every time a username, you replace it with that person's info?

I dunno. The mini-profile thing is kinda nice...but (1) it's a huge load on the server (according to Chris) and (2) it's not really sanctioned right now...so we haven't actively developed it. I don't like the idea of replacing content over in the left hand nav bar though.

Personally, i hate the left side margin. I'd much prefer it was on the right. That said, if i ever got the energy to actually move it, i'd probably make it fixed as well (ad + forum watches + whatever).
But i don't care to move the mini-bio any further; personally, i liked it best in the post... but failing that, i should really come up with some sort of positioning algorithm that keeps it near the user's post but more or less out of the way... the current position is just laziness.

You mean you want the entirety of the left hand bar over on the right? Wow. I'm trying to think about what that would look like...

It's easier to just swap the columns and look at the result. Here's a hint: it looks goood...

Yeah. But I'm really lazy.

Then, i suppose i'll have to show you...

Yeah. That's really easy, isn't it?
Eh...it'd take me a bit to get used to it...but I kinda like it.

OK, knock it off you two

Actually...I kinda like having the nav bar over there. It kinda works. It also totally eliminates the problems I've had with horizontal scrolling on Fx trunk. So I'm happy.
