Diff. between CAST and CONVERT
If you're just changing data from one form to another for use, such as changing a "31" from a varchar to an int, use CAST; Convert offers more options than cast which may lead to more processing time. And by this, I of course mean MINIMAL, not noticeable processing time. Convert allows you to add a format style to your convertion, if you want it to. For example, if you're changing a date to a string, you can say which part of the date to return instead of returning the whole thing and making .NET format it.
CONVERT is specific to SQL Server, and allows for a greater breadth of flexibility when converting between date and time values, fractional numbers, and monetary signifiers.

Explicitly converts an expression of one data type to another. CAST and CONVERT provide similar functionality.
Syntax
Using CAST:
CAST ( expression AS data_type )
Using CONVERT:
CONVERT ( data_type [ ( length ) ] , expression [ , style ] )

Hi,
I have an .aspx page with an asp:Table and a button. When the button is clicked I want the clik event handler to add a row to the table programatically.
The code in the event handler is like so:

Unfortuantely I can only see the first row getting added on the page - subsequent button clicks have no effect; although when stepping through in the debugger I can see that the asp:table actually gets the new rows added to it, I just can't see it.
What am I doing wrong? Any help is very much appreciated.

Are you binding the table to datagrid or datalist to display it...if so update the datagrid by binding it again in the buttonclick event.

No, I'm not binding it to anything at all. The table is declared in the .aspx table and the idea is that every button click adds a new row to it which the user can then fill out.

As the web is stateless env...that's why you dont know how many times the user clicks on this button...So just an idea..store the number of clicks into session variable

ynamically created tables isn't part of the view state, and apparently that also pertains to the table structure itself.
Anyway, now I can get the table constructed as I wanted, now I just need to save the table contents proper.

My application folder is C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\webapp
I gave full permission to the folder for the aspnet user = IUSR_MYSYSNAME
My application is available on local machine with http://localhost/webapp or http://IPADDRESS/webapp but when i access from LAN its NOT available and page error = "Page cannot be displayed"
Pls. Help me whats wrong. I have a deadline to launch

Hi,
Due to Windows Security errors in WindowsXP SP2 u will be unable to acces the page.
so inorder to acces the application you need to instal windowsXP sp1 or windowsXP operating system insted of SP2....

hi!
Please follow following steps to allow Anonymus access to ur website from iis
1)Run > type 'inetmgr'[[if XP or locate via control panel if server '03]
2)locate ur website under default wesite node
3)Right click ur wesite node go to properties > Edit Security tab and allw anonymus access make sure ur IUSR_Machine name and password are there pre set if not find user....
4)Reset iis and retry ur page

Why do you want to open it in a browser? Just point the user to the file & let them run/save it as they choose.

I m making email client for my web portal made in C# asp.net web application.
I m using kerio mail server for that.
I can receive email and also its attachment name but for saving this attachment on personal pc i need attachment's path however i can only get file name.I want to ask that when mail is sent to kerio mail server with attachment,where it saves its attachment and from where i could get this attachment for downloading.
As i m using
string filePath=Server.MapPath(filePath)
now what i have to write in filePath for downloadig attachment.

hi all,
i have an asp.net app and i have two windows parent.aspx and child.aspx. now i have around 5 link buttons [ varies according to the number of items in an array] in the parent.aspx. now when someone click on the first link button the child.aspx should popup with appropriate querystring say child.aspx?id=linkbutton1.text. i used javascript window.open for this, but the prob is that, when someone clicks on linkbutton one, child.aspx pops up as child.aspx?id=linkbutton1.text, but if the same user clicks on linkbutton2, this child.aspx?id=linkbutton1.text gets refreshed. but i want to pop up another new window as child.aspx?id=linkbutton2.text. like that i wanna pop up 5 different windows for these 5 link buttons. any idea?
please help.
