Hi,
I am having a problem with updating my database with dataset changes!
I have separte DataAcessTier where i create all the dataset stuff using some CreateDataSet and bring it to presentationTier, that works fine, but when i try to update the changes, i again go back to dataccess tier for using UpdateDataSet Function, and there problem arises!
I dunno which DataAdapter is to be used for DataSet Update Now,
There is no error at all but the dataadaper's Fill method is not updating the stuff?
What to DO???

There's a SAPI SDK you can download. It's not a trivial, beginner level thing.

Hi
I have migrated the code that was previously in VB 6.0 to VB.NET (2.0)
The output is a dll.
A VB Script is accessing the VB dll using CreateObject() and the functions written in it are called.
Now with using the .NET dll the same does not work.
I tried registering it as COM visible and all of it.But I still get the error.

Did you create a COM dll, or just blithely try to register a dll that knows nothing abuot COM ?

i was making the setup of my applicatins .after i finished making the setup.and the deploying to the machine , which is not having the .net famework , there i got the following error.
i order to install the setup , i need to install the .net framework.
earlier i added the .net framework 2.0 , by right clicking the
setup - add - assembly -i browsed the framework from my hard disk.
Now my question is , the process i am executing is right?
or i need to rectify it somewhere?
is there anything i have to do in the poperties of setup - prerequisites -

You cannot add the framework to a setup, you can just tell it that the framework is required, and perhaps get it to download and install it. I write installers in C++ that run the framework install, then my MSI

suppose i have 100 clients and the database is centralized.then i will install the framework manually on each and every client.
It will become quiet tiresome?
that's y i asked , is there any provision to integrates the exe of the .net framework so that whenever the setup of my program executes , then it instals the setup without asking the dependency.

Yes, yes you will. So long as they have to run a .NET app, they need the framework.

Yes, I believe you can set up an MSI to download and install the framework. I said that.

there is an option called prerequisites, has it anythig to do with my project relationg to .net framework.
actially the prerequisites contain the .net framework option which is already checked

Yes, this doesn't package the framework in with your msi, tho, I do believe it means it will try to download it. There's no way to actually put the framework into your installer.

hi Sonia
this guys are right,everytime when a .net Application is installed in a system that has no .net framework installed. you application will tell the user that the .Net is not installed, and it will give the User an option to Download it. Mybe in the Future Vs it might be incoporated. .net automatically included in your Setup and being installed Silently.

normally when you build you're setup project you get 2 files: an exe and a msi
if you run the exe the setup will check for the framework, if not installed he will try to download it and install it and then run the msi (ofcourse this requires the pc to be connected to the internet)

I am kinda new to vb.net so please advice me
I am writing an app at which i want to organize my controls in to namespaces
So i write a user contrl class and i placed it in a folder called plugin
When i warp with NameSpace xxx.Plugin and End NameSpace and i switch to desinger view i get this error:
The class Clock can be designed, but is not the first class in the file. Visual Studio requires that designers use the first class in the file. Move the class code so that it is the first class in the file and try loading the designer again.
Please help?

Sure. Firstly, please delete your duplicate post.
I suspect your issue is that the IDE generates two code files ( and I thought generated namespaces based on folders ), so you probably need to change/create the namespace in both files. This is assuming this is a winforms app.

VS 2005 using typed datasets
My customer want to close a form, but before the form closes, they want to be informed of any unsaved changes.
I have list box that is bound to a bindingsource that dislays orders. I also have a bindingsource that is bound to a datagridView. I want to detect changes in these 2 data tables.
I have decided to use MyDataSet.HasChanges(). However, as I have been testing this, i find that it always produces a true, even when I have saved all my data to these 2 tables.

However, if i do the following:

Then it will be false.
In my typed dataset I have all the data tables for my project, about 30. So maybe it is detecting one of them as been changed. However, even when I don't open this forms that use the other data tables, i still get a true everytime I call the HasChanges. I just want to check only the orders and orderDetails table for changes.
Is there another method for doing this.
As an alternative I tried the get changes for the 2 data tables, if they return nothing, then there are no changes

However, the above code resulted in an error "OrderDetailsID doesn't allow NULLs" This was because I added a datarow to the datatable (orderDetails) then called the getChanges. Not sure how to solve the above error.
