Hello,
i'm using VS Orcas beta 2 for developing Windows Mobile 6 application. On my pc is installed .Net CF 2 SP2 and .Net CF 3.5 Pre-release.
I want create a windows mobile application for sending "ping" at remote host.
In VS Help Local and Online, is used the namespace System.Net.NetworkInformation in which are avaible ping, pingreply, pingoptions classes.
On my pc there isn't this namespace, why? where's it?
Moreover other classes are missing.
Is necessary to install OpenNETCF ?

That's my question .
I don't know how to catch ItemClick event or DoubleClick event or Click event.

can we define our own file type to be use in compact framework.what other file type can be used other than .txt .Is it better to used .txt file or other file type .

Same question: What do you mean with "define our own file type"?
You can use any type of file in your own programs (txt-files, binary-files, ...);
maybe a good choice is XML (there are very good parsers in the .NET CF).

Hello, is it possible to delete or hide columns (columns containing id-s for example) in a datagrid WITHOUT deleting the corresponding column from the datasource (a datatable in a dataset).  I have only found solutions for the full framework but none worked for the compact framework. 
... is this really so hard to accomplish?

Hello,
it's very important for my project to be able to use the "VisibleChanged" event on the System.Windows.Forms.Panel.
But unfortunately it is missing in the CF, so could anyone please help me to implement this event on my own in a control i derive from Panel? I tried to override the Visible property and fire the event in there, but i wasn't able to override it. Any ideas?

I have created an user control, and I want to make it so that it can be dragged and dropped in a form freely. Unfortunately user controls are not DND enabled, so i have to write my own events on mouseclick, mousedown and mousemove
I am able to mouse the control using my stylus, however, as i move it, the control seems to flicker alot and travel everywhere. It seems like everyother mouse coordinate detected by the mousearg in the mousemove event is off.
is there anyway to fix this?

Hi
I have just found my old Ipaq 3970. Checking the Asset Viewer, it has ROM Revision 4.00.08 ENG and OS Version : Windows CE 4.20.
Any idea what the latest version if of both / either of these? I've googled around and can't really find a definitive answer.

Which, after reading the post below is either WIndows Mobile 2003 or if I am lucky, Windows Mobile 2005.

I have a Pocket PC device with windows mobile 5.
I need to write a small program that can detect IR signals sent from other simple device (such as remote controls).
How can I open the IR port on my PPC programmatically and how can I detect signal sent to my device?
If someone can show me a simple C# example code, or simple MFC example code this would ne very helpful.

I have some weird problems connecting to SQL Server 2005 and I hope you can help me:
I have written a c# app on an acer n300. My app is connected to a SQL SERVER 2005 database. This app works fine. So I decided to install the app on a second pda. Both pdas have wireless lan and windows ce 5.0. But my app does not run on the new PDA.

I have installed Compact Framework 2 SP2, but as soon as I try to connect to the database a get the error SQL Server does not exist or access denied. I am absolute sure that my connect string is OK, as it works on the acer pda. The configuration of SQL Server should also be ok, as I can connect from the acer devices.
Network connection is also OK, as I can connect with remote Terminal Services to the machine hosting the database without any problems.
Can you give me a hint whats wrong? Are there any cab files that I must install on the pda before SQL Server 2005 Client is working? I only installed .net Compact Framework.

I used the TTS (Text to Speech) from Fonix a few years ago. It works well.

I have an application designed as a pocket PC 2003 project. I use Unicode characters to show my local strings.
The result of my application is different on different devices.
In a Pocket PC 2003, every thing is OK.
In the emulator, the strings are not shown correctly.
In a Pocket PC 2005 Device, the strings of buttons are not shown correctly but the other controls have no problem with Unicode characters.
In a WinCE Device, the strings of all controls are shown correctly except buttons.
What is the problem??????!!!!

The ROM has to be built specifically for each model of device. Contact the device manufacturer to see if there is an OS upgrade available.
One of the major changes between Windows Mobile 2003 and Windows Mobile 5.0 is that the main file system is persistent on WM 5.0, that is, it is stored on Flash memory. This requires a lot more Flash than in WM 2003, and many 2003 devices did not have enough for WM 5.0 to be practical.
