VS 2005 doesn't prompt you to save solution files. They are by default located in "Documents and Settings" folder under your user in a folder call Visual Studio Projects, or something like this. IIRC you can change this somewhere in the options.

I beg to differ. My vs 2005 does indeed prompt me to save a .sln file if none exists already.

VS 2005 create the solution file at default place if you have not given address to store go to My documents -> Visual Studio 2005->Projects->check for your project name a folder should be there with your project name

Hi there.
I read an article on how to send mails from my ASP.NET C# pages using SmtpMail.Send(). It works great but when I type Arabic characters for example, the receiver only sees "???????????" instead of what I wrote.
How can I solve this problem? If I type these characters in a Yahoo Mail, the receiver sees them correctly.
My page is set to utf-8 with unicode signature.
Please help.

Is there any way of sharing resources from one project to another under the same solution. For instance a web.config file and it's properties or some classes and their methods.

For classes and methods you need to put them into a seperate assembly then add a reference to it in each of the projects. For config files, put settings that are common across all applications in the machine.config rather than the web.config.

Yes.
For code, you create class library projects (for the code you wish to share) and then you reference them in other projects. (Right click the project, then Add-->Reference... In the dialog pick from the list in the "Projects" tab)
If you are using .NET 2.0 the visual studio resource editor will create a class wrapper to allow you access to the resources, this can be picked up like any other code.
Default config files (e.g. web.config or app.config) are accessible from any code as they are deployed with the assemblies as a separate file.

Ok so any classes need to be in a seperate project and then this needs to be reference by the other projects.
But what about the app.config file. I failed to mention that this solution is three seperate web services. At the moment they all have their own app.config file. This as you expect contains almost identical content.

If those web services all run on the same physical machine, then you can put those settings in the machine.config file on that machine to save from having to duplicate the settings in each app.config. Then of course, edit your own machine.config so the same settings apply on your development machine. Perhaps this will help:

Hi,
I have a small problem where I am using a tab strip to display dynamic controls.
When the user presses the save button I have to loop through the tabs and then loop through the controls on each tab to see if their values have been changed - if so write them to the DB.
All of the dynamic controls added implement an interface called IKSSControl.
Is there a way to check that the control on the page is derived from IKSSControl?

Hi all,
I am working on ASP.net 2.0 and SQL server 2005 . I am having problem in publishing my crystal report .
I have published the website in IIS , all my webforms works fine only problem is with crystal report .Whenever i try to open Crystal report , it gives Login box requesting for login ID and password ,if i continously click on cancel in login box ,it then succesfully displays data . So i think there is no problem in retrieving data from database into the Crystal report , but can anyone tell me why am i getting that login box .

I am using .net 2.0 framework. Dlls created with .Net 2.0 unable to creatae log files using log4net.dll. I have already mentioned th below mentioned code in Application_Start:
DomConfigure.Configure(); and all the log4net related configuration information appended in web.config.
But still, it is not giving any error but also not creating any og files in the desired location.
Please can anyone suggest any solution for this?
surprisingly, log files are created in local machine; but not in the deployed server.

Dear freinds,
i have an web application with a configuration file. and i have share point installed in my system.
share point configuration file is available in "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\web.config"
my web application configration file is available in "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\sampleApplication\web.config"
when i access my web site it refers the share point configration file and throws this error message like this "The XML file web.config could not be loaded. Access to the path "c:\inetpub\wwwroot\web.config" is denied."
if i remove the share point configuration file it works fine.
what shall i do now?
i want both to work at a time.
any idea? any link?

You need to set sampleApplication as an Application in IIS. In the IIS Manager, create a new virtual directory and point this to the sampleApplication site.
If you already have a site on this directory, ensure that it is an application by right clicking and selecting properties on the site. Then, if the Application Settings (in the Virtual Directory tab) has a button called Create you need to press it.

i have created virtual directoy.
i have mentioned in my question that it works fine. when there is no
web.config file in c:\inetpub\wwwroot
i think this error will occer for all. pleas do past any empty or diffrent confing file in c:\inetpub\wwwroot.
and try to run a web application which has diffrent web config compared to newly pasted web config.
if ur applicatoin works fine please do tell me what are the steps u have followed.
