Sorry, you need to explain it better than that. If you don't know exactly where to put it, you just have eto choose a spot at random, but I don't know if that helps, your queston doesn't make enough sense.

m working with .net.if i go for a sub folder in a treeview then iam getting the fullpath from the beginnig like d:\parentfolder\childfolder like this .but if click on parent folder i should get only child folder like
childfolder but not complete folder.

are you using any COM component or 3 party tool ?
Are you creating many objects in your application ?

Hi All,
I am currently busy trying maintain some else's code, it is asp.net1.1 within an asp site, they just pasted it a couple of subdirectories and there is issues regarding multiple web.config files in subdirectories and in the root etc.
I don't have any asp.net1.1 experience, only 2.0, and 1.1 compiled everything into a dll as far as I know but I want to see the code behind and the only page that I can view is the aspx, I can't locate the aspx.cs file. Also I can't find the dll, how does this work and where should I start looking for the code behind files.
The guy who did these left the company before I joined so I can't find out from him.
Any help will be appreciated

In 1.1, if he built a dll, the page would work without any .cs files, in fact you would deploy it that way. One has to hope there's source control somewhere that includes the full files, or they are on his PC, because if you're looking at where the site was deployed, they will not be there.

If you can view the page, you MUST have code in the aspx, or you MUST have a dll. It's not going to pull it from thin air. Worst case, you can decompile the dll.

If there is a dll it will be in the bin/ folder.
Otherwise, the "code-behind" will be inline - ie in the aspx file itself within <script runat="server">... </script> tags.

I didn't even consider that ( because he said he has a dll ). What a nightmare.

I looked in for a bin directory and there is only one, and the dll is not in there, also there is no inline "code-behind" so the source would be on his machine that has been formatted and given to a new person in the company

Then the company is pretty stupid for not checking before he left, and for not having source control to start with.

Well something doesn't make sense - if there's no dll and no inline code, I don't see how the application works at all!

Yip, and there it has the attribute codebehind="page.aspx.cs" but there is no such file in that directory

Just did a search on the entire app, there is no such file in the entire website, not even a dll with that name

Well, no - that implies DLL. There should be another property there, typically:
inherits="dllname.pagename"
and that should tell you the name of th DLL where the code is compiled to...and that should be in the bin/ folder...

I gues that's what decompilers do, but it's not something I know about. Surely your company can contact the previous developer and ask him/her for the files? Otherwise... good luck, is all I can say!
