What do you mean? Your subject and that sound like 2 different things  Do you want to get the currently logged on user, and the domain?

I meant to get the user's name in/on the system.
It's to store session state information along with their username.

I've run into a problem...
I used
String username = System.Security.Principal.WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent().Name;
to get the username. And this works fine when accessing the webpage if it's on my own computer but when I publish the site and access it from anywhere else, it returns “NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE” for the username.
Is there any way to have this work for people accessing the site from somewhere else as well?

Hi,
I have a UserControl in which it has a TableLayoutPanel and the TableLayoutPanel contains some labels and buttons. When I change the Enabled property of the form that contains this UserControl on run-time, naturally the UserControl that is in it becomes disabled too. But, the forecolor of the labels that are contained within that UserControl's TableLayoutPanel change (they become gray) which is I do not want. I tried changing forecolors of the labels in EnableChanged event but didn't help. How can I specify a forecolor for a label when it becomes disabled?

the above is the snippet of code i used in my application what i am doing is copying a file and saving it with the someother name its working fine, but the actual problem is i'll be having two types of files in my folder one is .mp3 and .wav .
so in the above code i am checking only the .wav file
note: i'll be entering only the name of the file without extension, there may be any one of the two filetypes.
what are the modifications/additions i have to make in my code to check for two types of file extensions

Hi,
On clicking a search button, a datagridview is populated with data.
Each row has an extra column to display a button in it. This is the details button for each row.
The problem is that when I click on the search button to reload the datagridview, a new details column gets added to the first column of datagridview.
How is it possible to prevent adding extra column to the datagridview each time I click the search button?
Please note, I only get the details column as the last column, the first time the datagridview is loaded.
This is how I am adding the details column dynamically to the datagridview.
I think it is to do with the line which has new in it...

My aim is to bind the data dynamically to a label ..the database used is MS Access
I have created a module for creation of a database and inserting values in it through a gui n a canvas on which labels are dragged and dropped i want to print the form dynamically the process is getting values from the database n printing i know how to print but not how to bind the data i have tried with label1.databinding but failed as labels are also generated dynamically i cant bind them using properties window
if any one knows how to bind dynamically data please let me know..

Hi guys,
have been playing with WMI to add a network printer connection to a Windows XP pc. My environment consists of a server running Windows Server 2003 and Visual Studio 2005 and a test pc running windows xp. Further, I have setup a full domain controller environment.
I have managed to write the code to add the network printer and it works fine when installing the printer on the same machine the code is executing from i.e the server or xp pc. However, if I run the code from the server to install the network printer onto the test pc, it does not work. An exception is generated stating "Not Supported, the inner exception is blank. I can manually install the network printer on the test pc via the control panel, proving that the connectivity between machines is fine. The exception occurs when the mgtClass.InvokeMethod is executed.
1) If I specifiy the ip address of the test pc in the ManagementScope object does and when an object of Management class is instantiated does this imply that the network printer will be added to the test pc?
2)Using the AddPrinterConnection method from the WIN32_PRINTER class, is this the only way to add a network printer ?
3) To install the network printer on the server itself, omit the IP address,ipAddressOfClientPC, of the server from the ManagementScope object and it installs fine, provided the code itself is running of the server. So this leads me to believe its an issue with ManagementScope. However, if installing on the same machine as the code is running on then the username and password need not to be defined. So what do I need to do to the Management Scope object to make it work?

It seems that AddPrinterConnection method is reserved for adding network printers to local machines rather than remote machines as to what I was trying to achieve.
To add network printer on remote machines you need to use rundll32 printui.dll,PrintUIEntry /?. This is a command line method of doing things however it can be easily incorporated into managed code.

I need a solution to the below problem, it is ver very urgent.
I have created some dynamic link buttons in a page and specified the event handler for it.
But when the link button is clicked the event is not triggered.
These actions are done in a web user control.
But the page using the control is AJAX enabled.
Can any one give me a solution to it.

In Visual Studio2005, using Add New Data Source, added a database file.
This database name is 'nwind' and has 4 Table.
But I don't know that how control this data.
Just one thing, I need to choice specific Record(Tuple).
I'll be happy just to know call this adding database Table.

I have a weird problem. I have a XML file something similar to the following

Iam building a print server, which prints documents one by one.
Iwant to know is it possible to define the owner name of the print job. currently the job is being printed by the default windows logged in user.
the sample code iam using is shown below which prints the documents.

hi all!
i have to make a C# desktop applicatio which can assingn pasword to folders so that when user double clicks the folder (in windows XP) then the password is asked from user. i the user provides correct password then it allows it to open otherwise it doesn't allow. any idea/suggestions how i should take a start?

The only way to do this is to completely subvert the file system, or to not have real folders at all. Either way, sounds like a C++ task to me.
