That's kind of the thought I had. There's a lot of work needs to be done in the browser integration P/Invoke stuff and all that, but I like the thought that we can have a WPFy version.

Absolutely agree.
It was precisely this OS level integration (P/Invoke stuff) that concerned my attempting it. The permutations involved in this kind of dialog are not to be underestimated.

Hi guys,
What about OpenFileDialog? I couldn't find anything in WPF. Should I use Microsoft.Win32.OpenFileDialog? It works but not suitable for Great WPF

The link I posted above (in my first reply to this thread) shows
the use of OpenFileDialog as a folder browser. Look in the blog
responses 
I tested it - it works, I just didn't like it....a real folder picker
is better IMO.

following initialization properties and associated functionality:
public string SelectedFolder { get; protected set; }
public string InitialFolder { get; set; }
public string InitialExpandedFolder { get; set; }
public string OKButtonText { get; set; }

I was mentioning to Pete a couple weeks ago how I
often have problems working with XAML in Visual Studio
which kept me kind of discouraged about using it, and the
wonderful add-on tools available from him and Karl.
This morning, after a couple weeks of error-free development
and really getting into the VS designer (over Blend), again I
couldn't work with any XAML files. Visual Studio crashed before
I got through my first cup of coffee.
Time to report this to MS. It took about 30 seconds to find the
already-filed bug report (don't know why I couldn't find it months
ago...wrong keywords I guess).
Here it is:
WPF Designer fails to load in VS.NET 2008 SP1 (RTM)[^]
The workaround fixed me instantly. I never imagined setting the startup
project to a Win32 or MFC project would be associated with the XAML designer.
I never made that association while I was working - it just seemed random.
Maybe this will help someone else (or maybe I'm the only one that still works
with native projects)

Hi,
I am new in WPF technology.
I want to create resource dictionary runtime and it should be loaded.
I can load resouce dictionary which is there in my project (i.e. project resource) but actually I need it to be create .xaml file at runtime.
I have given physical path of that .xaml file but things not working as it should be.
Help me out.

Hi All,
I have a custom WPF control (say X). I have a text box(say Y) in X. I will be placing X in a System.Windows.Window object (say Z). Now I want the text in Y to be based(bound to) on a string/int value in X. Now this value of the string/int in X will be based on some value in Z. Hope Iam clear. How can I use data binding to achieve the same? Any help would be highly appreciated.

I have a silverlight application, and I want to open an aspx page inside the Silverlight and to interact between them.
Does anyone knows if there is any aspx box container in Silverlight?

Got a partial solution of the problem:
If we use the user control i.e. the .ascx file in the xaml page
we can do it like
1. REgister the usercontrol with following tag in
xmlns:MyUserControl="clr-namespace:SilverlightAppWeb"
where SilverlightAppWeb is the namespace of the .ascx user control
2. Use it anywhere with tag
<MyUserControl:Servicecontent/>
where Servicecontent is the class name.
This was successful for calling xaml file, i.e. xaml usercontrol.
But giving following error with .ascx file:
AG_E_PARSER_BAD_TYPE [Line....]
where the line is <MyUserControl:Servicecontent/> when .ascx is used.
And shows contents when the reference of xaml page is given....
Further let's try....

Short of purchasing[^] a commercial solution there's no easy way to accomplish this (well there is one, but it's a hack). One common way of doing this (the hack way) is to float a div over Silverlight to make it appear that this is inside the actual control.

I have a menuitem inside GridViewColumn.HeaderTemplate
that binds a
CommandParameter=”{Binding RelativeSource={RelativeSource AncestorType=ContextMenu}, Path=PlacementTarget}”
PlacementTarget puts me at a grid that forms the header datatemplate of my GridViewColumn.
what would be the binding expression to continue this up to finally bind GridViewColumn to the commandparameter?
I want to be able to walk up the dom using nested binding expression... anyone know how to do this?

Hi people
I want to know that if it is possible to somehow have something in wpf similar to messengers we generally see. that is what exactly i want is that if i have some friends, is it possible for me to know their online status? that is when they come online i should know that they are online and similar for offline.

Hey guys,
I have a WCF data service that works well with an Internet application I developed (using Forms authentication). Now I'm trying to create a WPF desktop application that uses this same data service and does its own custom authentication. The problem is my WCF data service always sees Membership.GetUser() as null. I've tried calling Membership.ValidateUser() within both the WPF application and the WCF data service with no luck. What am I missing, what am I doing wrong?

Hi All,
i'm a new one user of NHibernate and WPF (i'm a new one also in the programmer's field) so in studying and exerciting to develop my knowledge about these tools,so meantime i 'm studying i 'm doing an exercise about NHibernate with WPF.
In my exercise ,when i debug the project,i receive this error :
NullReferenceException was unhandled.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object..
in this method

thanks to reply me,
i changed there lines:

to
if (w.ShowDialog() == true)
{
if (ContactList == null)
ContactList = new BindingList<contact>();
ContactList.Add(_contact); }
because it doesn't allow me to insert List<> so i insert BindingList <t>...
after i will debug and see what happen..
