You're limitated by your system resources.
In the GUI you can only add five IPs per connection, but that limit you can workaround by editing the registry.
Just remember that, if you have more than one gateway you'll need to manually edit your routes or install the RIP listener.

Hello guys,
Let me try to explain my situation as best as I can. I currently have 3 servers set up.
1) Application Server (a)
2) File Server (b)
3) Web Server (c)
Now between the Web server and the WAN there is a dedicated PC acting as the FIREWALL.
Now the thing is I am developing certain applications to communicate between server C and server a. Now server a has 2 network cards 1 being used to connect to the switch that connects server a and b to the rest to the office, and the other network card has a cable running from it ot the C machine as the C machine is on a sperate network than servers a and b.
Now here comes my problem i need to configure the Windows firewall on a to allow only certain connections,ports etc. from server C and rest disallow only for the connection between A - C but the rules must apply
Hope you guys understood, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

when I open my InetMgr and try to browse a website it gives me an error for HTTP 404 and says that the web page not found. Even the localhost is not opening.
I am getting the following error

I have a Sony laptop and contain 3 partition inside (C,D,E) drives. After I used my external hard drive, WD 1TB, to back up everything in the laptop. my external hard drive automatically copy the C, D and E drive and delete the partition that I used to have inside the external drive. What can I do to undo or recover my External hard drive back?? Pls help..

Hi Everyone
I'm after finding the best way to set up my network so that my Win2k3 can act as a VPN server.
I have an abundance of routers that can act as switches if required, but my current setup is as follows:
Modem into Linksys Router
All devices including server into said router.
With this setup, some clients are having trouble resolving host names when connected, and I have trouble connecting to the server from within the network unless I use IP address.
I have 2 NICs on the server, so I was thinking that maybe the correct setup would be:
Modem into Linksys Router
Nic 1 of Server into Linksys Router
Nic 2 of server into 2nd router (not sure if it should go in the modem port or normal port)
all other devices into 2nd router
Maybe config server to act as DNS server
I think this may fix my DNS problem, but I'm no expert on these things.
This would force all trafic through the server. Would this be a problem? What is the best way of doing this?

I would keep the hardware as it is.
Disable the DHCP on the router.
Install or enable DNS and DHCP on the server. Then set gateway and dns in the DHCP settings to point to your server.

No I mean that you should set the gateway (should point to your router) and dns (should point to your server) options on the dhcp server so that your clients can pick them up automatically.
This also means that you should leave the ipsettings on your clients to automatic.

Hello all,
I am having trouble with one of my web servers, the aspnet_wp.exe process is maxing out the CPU usage for long periods of time and causes the web applications to respond very slowly. I was wondering if there's a way to monitor the incoming requests or current activity of the IIS/asp.net to pin point exactly what website may be causing this high CPU usage.
I'm running win 2000, IIS 5 and .NET 2.0

Hello all,
In Windows XP Pro, if you right click "My Computer" and you go to see the devices, you can modify the properties of the network card.
Once there you can set the advanced properties of the device and then you can select the "Speed & Duplex" parameter and set to a value.
In my computer it is:
10MB full
10MB half
100MB full
100MB half
Auto
Shouldn't it be 1000 MB if the network card is a 1GB capable card?
I've checked it in several computers of my company and it seems that I can only set it to 10 or 100, but not to 1000...
Any idea if it is normal?

When your computer boots and your network device drivers have loaded one of the first things that occurs is the autonegotiation process[^]. If the device driver has determined that 1000GB speeds are not possible it removes the option by setting/removing some internel capability flags.
1.) Make sure your network card supports gigabit ethernet.
2.) Check that your cables are category 6 or above[^].
3.) Check all routers and switches your to which you are connected and make sure they support gigabit ethernet.

Do you mean that if for example my router is only capable to go at 10mbps then all the network cards that are autonegotiating the speed will go at 10mbps?
This can't be true... 
Side note: Well my Windows Vista computers never transfer files at more than 10mbps to the network...

I mean: in my company I have some computers connected at switches at 100, a couple of old Pentiums and the router that are capable only to reach 10 and some other switches and computers at 1000.
How can I take the maximum performance of the faster computers if all of them must be in the same network?

to get 1Gbps you must adapt some routers and cables.
computers with 1Gbps capability can communicate at 1Gbps only if all routers and cables on their direct path are capable of 1Gbps. It does not make any sense to have computers with 1Gbps capability unless the cables and routers they connect to don't have the same capability (one normally first switches the routers and their backbone, not the computers).
You can mix fast and slow computers on a fast router and get 1G between 1G-computers, and less when slower computers are involved. and you can keep slow routers to connect slow computers to the network.

There are some drivers out there, like <cough>Intel's that will not work at 1000MB unless the link speed is set to Auto. There is no option to lock it at 1000MB.

I think that this is what is happening even the drivers there are from a broadcom network card.
I've changed it to 100mb full and the network transfers to that server have become slooooooooooooow.
So I've changed it back immediately to AUTO.

Hello all,
After updating my Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 server, now another server that runs Windows XP Pro (don't ask please) has started showing me messages like: Lost Delayed-Write Data.
I've been searching the Internet in order to find a solution and what I've found is this Microsoft article[^] that speaks of a solution in the latest service pack...
I have the sp3 installed on that computer and I don't know how to improve that... any idea? have any of you faced this situation before?
Any hint is welcome...

Hi, I have a problem when I open a file on desktop which is Microsoft Excel 2003 format, it take me around 1 minute to open the file. It is very slow. Does anyone know what is the likely cost of the problem?

Does it uses DDE ??
Please follow the steps :
Open Windows Explorer,
Go Tools - >Folder Options, then File Types,
scroll down to and select XLS (for Excel files),
click Advanced and select Open entry,
click the edit Button.
deselect "Use DDE"
append "%1" (include the quote marks) to the end of the application command line,
Remove /dde if it is at the end of the command line
Then click on OK three times.

Thank you very much for your reply and your solution. Actually before I post the question in this forum, I also try to search an internet and found the above solution. But I still could not fix it.
After that I try to figure it out and found that the machine that has the problem is the machine that run webshot and I also configure the rule on my firewall (ISA 2004) to block an internet access and aslo impact to that user and that lead to this problem that I figure it out.
In July 2009, my organization expereince the problem of internet disconnect because of the disconnected of the phone line, and I found that these user whose run websot also has this problem too.
Now I disable the rule in my firewall and everything is working fine. I will try to contact webshot company to find the solution of the above problem.
