Greating, How I can install Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 without internet connection? I need install SQL Server 2008, but the wizard installer say me, Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1 is necesary. Exist any way?.

Use the ISO format installation package[^].

If you've never worked with iso image files, there's some info here[^].

But it too Don't Need the internet connection like the .exe?

"Maintain Internet connectivity during the installation of the service pack until seeing the “Installation Completed Successfully” message before disconnecting."

Yes, It worked, I use Alcohol 120% for the ISO files, Thanks very much.
But Now I have a problem installed SQL Server 2008 64x on Windows 7, the installer show me some mistakes like can't install the Database Motor.

I'm not sure about that one. I'm using SQL Server 2008 on
Windows 7 and I don't recall any install issues. I did
install it before Visual Studio so I wouldn't get 2005,
however. Is there another version installed?

I didn't say that. I meant I use SQL Server 2008 x64 on
Windows 7 x64 with no issues. If you're on Windows 7 x86
then you'll need to use the 32-bit SQL server.

Make sure you have .NET framework 3.5 SP1 installed.

If you have any previous versions/instances of SQL server
installed that you aren't using, you can remove those first
as well.

But if you want to use 32-bit SQL server go right ahead Smile | :)

So...Perhaps is it, I tried install SQL Server 2005 64 bits, but I had too problems, I don't if is the DVD installer or another problem.
I go to remove some SQL Server 2005 component installed.

I get the following error msg while compiling the code.

There's your problem. You should use this as a SqlDataReader instead.

BTW - you have quite a few resource issues here - you have resources which need disposing which you haven't, you haven't closed your connection anywhere.

Using .NET 3.5, SQL Server 2005 and C# 2008 Express.
Server creates instances of the server-side code.
Worked fine under XP. Upgraded to Windows 7 and the remote calls hang.
If I add code to my client which accesses the database directly (inserted before it does the remote call, it works. But not remotely through the server.
Is there something I should know about SQL Server/.NET/Windows 7?

The information you provided is not enough. What is your app doing and where does it hang ? And what does remote call mean, WCF, Web Service or a remoting component ?

Not clued up on terminology, so will give examples.
The first step that the app does is collect the username and logon, and then check if they are in the database.
I am using interfaces to the server-side code, and the server creates instances of the code like this

UserList insUserList = UserList.Instance;
ObjRef refUserList = RemotingServices.Marshal(insUserList, "UserList");

The client does a call like this

rmUserList = (IUserList)Activator.GetObject
             (typeof(IUserList),
             System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["UserListUrl"]);
logonReturnValue = rmAllUserList.Logon(PasswordString);

UserListUrl is tcp://localhost:50050/UserList
On the server side it does (through calls to a pool of common routines, also on the server.

If I run the above code snippet in ClientLogon it works. If I allow it to do the remote call, it hangs.

More info:

On the server side, I created a routine that only returns a string "OK", with no data access. Still hangs, so it is definitely the remoting bit, not the data access.
