We have migrated our web site to new web site (don't ask why?)
In order to help us with the transition, we created 301 redirect, from the old web site to the new web site, in IIS. The redirect looks like
http:
This handles all the sub directory as well as query string nicely. we tested the redirect and works great, except for https requests.
Both the new and old web sites have mixed protocol (some pages are http while other https). The redirect for https takes to http not https.
We checked IIS setting, googled, and pulled our hair with no result.
So, Is it possible to redirect http -> http and https -> https on the same web site?
N.P. If we change the redirect to
https:
then all the request gets redirected to SSL, which is not what we want.

Hi All,
I've carried out research on this but just wanted other professionals’ feedback on this.
Our existing mail server has Windows server 2000 with Exchange server 2000 on it and we now have a new server with Windows Server 2008 (not R2).
What version of Exchange server would you purchase in order to migrate the existing Exchange server 2000 over? Exchange Server 2007 or would you wait for Exchange Server 2010, which I read is going/gone to RTM any day now?

I just found the article below, which makes me think that Exchange Server 2007 is the way to go being that we would be migrating from Exchange Server 2000. According to the article it says that there is no direct route to migrate directly from 2000 to 2010.
Not to mention 2010 is just being released and who knows what problems it will pose. What do you think?

If wanting to migrate to 2010 would that mean buying license for the intermediate version of exchange (2003 or 2007) and then for 2010?

2000 to 2007 should be relatively straight forward as they can co-exist in the same Exchange organisation. We did a staged upgrade to 2007 from 5.5 via 2003 due to there being no straight migration path for that upgrade.
I don't recall mention of migration from 2000 to 2010 in the presentation on 2010 I saw at Tech Ed. presumably since MS believe we all upgrade as soon as there is a new RTM product!
There are some reasonably significant architecture changes from 2007 to 2010 but not nearly as big as the change from 2000 to 2007 will be for you. 2007 is possibly a better bet at the moment simply because it has had some time to bed in. MS have said their new policy is to put the product out once it works and add polish afterwards. This means GUI control of some features comes later although most functionality will be accessible from the CLI in the initial release. This was certainly the case with Exchange 2007.

I want to run rsh command from windows command prompt just to launch a command or an executable on a separate machine
this is what I do
rsh 192.168.4.223 -l comp1 dir
and this returns me
> 192.168.4.223:Connection refused
rsh: can't establish connection
can somebody explain this...
what should I do to run a command on a remote machine

The machine at IP addresss 192.168.4.223 does not allow an rsh connection. Check that system to see why it is refusing the connection, possibly a firewall issue.

As of now I am trying in vista, but same thing i will try in all other microsoft OS.
I have created the scheduled task through command line to invoke one exe.
Now I want to make that schedule run my exe only once, i mean only instance should run. If there are no instances then it should start one.
In task scheduler, for task properties, in settings tab i have "if the task is already running, then the following rule applied" option, where i can set "Do not start a new instance".
I want to set the rule in Task Scheduler's settings as "Do not start a new instance".
But through command line how to set the same.

I have a windows 2003 server with active directory. and windows vista 64 ultimate and i map share folders of my server to some drive letters. but after period of time after i login. if i click on network drive i get and error of logon failure, but i can ping server and i can also browse the share folder by giving the ip address of server with share folder name. if i logoff and logon again the problem will solve. if i also open the share folder and not close the window the diconnection not appear.

Hi, I my e-mail archive system, I found that a spam message was send to my cleint but in the To box do not display any address. Does anyone know why the To box is not display the message? How could I make its address appear in the To box?
I use Ms. Outlook 2003 to get my archieve e-mail.

In outlook, right click the message and select options. In the bottom of the options window you can read the internet headers with all the info about the mail as it arrived to the outlook client.
If you need help to interpret it you can post it here, just keep in mind that there might be info that you don't want to give people outside your own organisation.

I've now tried installing Expression Studio 3 three times (downloaded via the WebSiteSpark) program. The first two I tried a mounted ISO, and for the third, I wrote the image to CD. With all three, a few seconds after booting, and a BSOD that requires speed-reading to comprehend, the machine restarts, ad infinitum.
I can start in safe mode and do a system restore to a checkpoint created yesterday, before the logged changes for today, which are "Installed DirectX". After the restore, everything is fine.
I'm running XP SP2 on an HP Pavilion dv9205us, but had to cheat and use drivers for another HP, as no XP drivers are available for this one. Any advice on how to diagnose or fix this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Ah the lightning BSOD. Next time you install it and it starts with the BSOD, reboot and tap F8 and when the Windows Advanced Boot options come up select Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure. That will give you all the time you need to read the BSOD. If it works in normal Safe mode it appears that there is a conflict with some driver. If you have Windows debugger you can look inside the actual dump file to find out what the problem is. About 90% of BSOD's are fixable. If you don't have windbg you can download it from microsoft, or if you'd rather. You can email me the minidump files located at c:\Windows\Minidumps and I will debug it and let you know what I find. Maybe We can get it to work.
