Gomez F. 29-Apr-10 19:20  A recently posted thread in The Lounge[^] made me think about one of the main problems we non-native-English-speakers face daily: since English is the primary language on which every tech is developed, almost every documentation is in such language. It usually takes time to find docs in our own language, spanning even years, and more often than not it's not as accurate as the original (I for once prefer reading the MSDN docs in English rather than my native Spanish, for such reason, but then again I've been studying English since I can remember and not too many people have had the same chances I had). Since The Code Project is full of international members, I think it would be nice to have the possibility of localizing an article. Say, I publish an article in English and I could also provide a Spanish translation for it. Then a reader can choose to watch the article in either language (perhaps a little flag at the top or something). Furthermore, perhaps someone could contribute with a German translation, making it available in yet another language. I'm aware that such a thing would imply a great effort. But I think that there are many gains, since it would make Code Project available to a bigger audience, and thus opening the doors to many other markets. I know that you guys have been busy with the latest improvements on the site. But maybe in some time when you're asking yourselves: what could we include for our next milestone, this might be an interesting option to consider. Just a thought. The problem I foresee is that the article text could change dramatically between the English and non-Enlish version, and people could take advantage of the fact that not so many people will speak their language. All the spam messages that are posted, link to that website. You could probably have a list of spam websites and not allow any message to be posted when it contains any of those links. Wikipedia does the same thing: a blacklist with URLs from unwanted hosts, see Wikipedia:Spam_blacklist[^]. Have you visited alexcastelli.com? He's an Italian kid with a blog site that looks to have been hijacked. 24hrs later and the spammers have moved onto other sites. Sometimes when I visit www.codeproject.com codeproject fails to use cookies to do automatic login. Sometimes even when I have logged in and clicks on a link then the new page forgets that I am logged in. The worst case is when I type a message or answer and after clicking submit the system askes for credentials. The funny thing is that if I refresh a page couple of times then I am logged in automatically. I am using Windows 7 + IE8. I don't use any scripts from IE7Pro. I can disable it and try for couple of days. I have Microsoft Security Essentials but I keep it disabled by default and enable it on need basis. I am not sure about IE privacy setting as I never play with them. But I will allow to always accept cookies from codeproject. But I have exactly the same problem with FireFox!!! So the problem is definitely not with the browser settings. Any ideas what it can be? -Saurabh Re: Login problems Chris Maunder1-May-10 7:35 Chris Maunder 1-May-10 7:35  I've never seen this myself, and aren't getting inundated with complaints about this so I'm a little stuck trying to work out what's happening. We moved to .NET4 and it's certainly throwing more errors (internally) due to that ridiculous change to RequestValidation that has been made, but if a page fails it fails - it's not going to have a problem, not log you in, and then keep going. Two things could be happening 1. Cookies are being stripped or dropped. That's an issue your end you should investigate 2. Certain pages you visit are being served to you from the cache, not live. You're logged on in one page, you request another (eg the homepage) instead of sending back the latest, your browser simply serves up an old cached version where you appear logged out. Only issue with (2) is I think you reported that you would try posting a message but it would fail because you weren't logged in. You see the page thinks that I am not logged in but still shows my reputation. -Saurabh Dangerous bug with Delete answers (I think) [modified] Tom Deketelaere28-Apr-10 21:14 Tom Deketelaere 28-Apr-10 21:14  I found a bug with deleting answers (I think, not gonna test it since there is the danger of deleting an actual answer) When I delete one of those spam answers I get a succesfully deleted message (but the answer is still visible) Then when I press the delete of the second spam answer, not the second spam answer gets deleted but the answer after that one (and if that's a real answer it's gone). so imagine this: answer 1 = actual answer 2 = spam answer 3 = spam answer 4 = actual delete 2 and you get successful then delete 3 and 4 is deleted. [EDIT] Found another one (and was able to test this one ) Delete an answer press F5 to refresh and you get a message box (which nobody ever reads so... ) saying something about actions being repeated and such, press continue and the answer after the deleted answer also gets deleted. So the action being repeated is actually the delete action. All on chrome Not testing on others since it is kind of dangerous unless I find some more spam messages. Today deleted answers are no more visible to me... generally they are. and ya... Spammers are back!
