I do agree with what he said - the article should be withdrawn from consideration if you know that fraudulent voting has been occurring.

In all fairness I do believe that other articles in the competition are better and deserve to win it more than me. I just wanted to see where I'd end up in the end but I guess that's not a possibility now :S

Surely the answer is obvious.
Reply to the chain mail and ask people not to artificially vote the article high. If they wish to join CodeProject then awesome, and if they wish to vote, even better, but ask everyone to vote on each article on the articles' merits.

I already did this so thats cool. I wouldn't have had any problems with it if they actually read all 10 articles and then voted. It's just that I don't want to win it this way.

For what it's worth, I think you've done exactly the right thing here, and that's admirable. (Let's be honest, had you kept quiet there's a fair chance no one would ever have known).
I would agree with John to the extent that unfair voting isn't right and does cause potentially more deserving articles to be glossed over, but insisting that the article be withdrawn is a bit extreme. You've highlighted the problem and it should be easy enough for Chris/CP to remove the votes from very new members. You got the nomination on your own, and totally deserve it in my opinion, it looks like a good article.
Whatever the outcome here, keep writing.

I too faced it... but its arbit!
It happened with me only today... 2-3 times... once opening Site Bugs/Suggestion... other Q&A, its a small popup in Firefox that shows this. Though the execution goes on without any negative affect.

I'm having the same problem with ANY CP page. I would cut and paste, but the dialog that pops up won't let me. The highlights, though:

Hi Chris,
In profile page,we show the count of messages posted with some title, like in my case its "Regular".Don't you think it must be updated as "Personality" as the count has gone more than 1000?

If I remember correctly that status is updated once a week only. (don't know when exactly your message count went above 1000 but that could be the reason)
Of course with the new reputation system I don't know if it's still being updated or not.

AFAIK it is always up-to-date; however the threshold probably is 1500.

Based on new reputation system, Debator's reputation is shown in Messages posted.
You have 734 debator's point and thus 'Regular', once you cross 1500, it will immediately change to 'Personality'.

Yep, it should be for now...
I think, based on long term when programming activities would be though Q&A, it would make more sense when any messages would be non-programming only.
For now, Chris can enlighten us on the same!

from my observation:
- all messages in all forums get counted, that results in the message count;
- all messages with a "question" icon at level 0 (hence starting a thread) contribute to enquirer rep;
- all level-1 messages with an "answer" icon in a programming forum contribute to authority reputation;
- all other reply messages (non-programming forum, not a "question" or "answer" icon, not level 0 or 1) contribute to debator reputation.
Hence debator is or could be a mix of soapbox rants and rightful technical discussions.
