Lol, I thought you used the code from that article to recover the file the article was stored in before it got deleted. Until I saw the author.

I just tried to post a comment to one of my answers in QA and it disappeared into the ether. Looks like this bug is back.

Based on the fact that you did not mention getting an error alert box displayed, I think you have a cached version of the comment's JavaScript file on your machine. Try yea old Ctrl-F5. If this doesn't fix it, delete your browser cache.
You should then be using the NEW & IMPROVED COMMENTS.

Right you are! CTRL+F5 worked. Gotta remember to add that to my list of things to try before reporting bugs.

I was just editing a question in Q&A and at some stage of the process a <technicalTerm>thing</technicalTerm> popped up with a caption something like 'Related Item'. With my usual skill and alacrity I continued and it disappeared before I had a chance to react. I performed a couple of unnecessary edits to try to get it back, as it actually would have been useful to the OP, all to no avail.
Now as you all know, I am very observant (yeah right!) but I do not recall seeing this before.
Is it new?
Was I being used as a Guinea Pig *cough* Hamster?

Next to the add comment there is now a 'show deleted' link which I assume shows the deleted comments.
But this link / button is there always, could it be possible to only show it if there are deleted comments?

How about:
Choose the correct forum for your message. The one that best fits your problem area. And only one.
Or choose Questions & Answers section. But not both.
PS: this will puzzle the reader unless you instruct him in the forum/QA dilemma...

I suggest extending rule 9 to something like
9. Please do not post links to your question in one forum from another, unrelated forum (such as the lounge). ItThey will be deleted. Likewise, do not post the same question in more than one forum.

Links can be good.
1. A thread can be a problem that relates to a recent other problem, where the context has been layed out and more code is already published.
2. A thread can be discontinued in its forum, and started up in another one. (e.g. when it starts as a MySQL question, and after some back-and-forth one agrees it is SQL Server, not MySQL related)
3. Sugs&Bugs need to provide a link to a problem.
4. Lounge may want to link to a problem or hilarious situation.
And links can be abused, just like everything else; e.g. for self-promotion.

Agreed; links per se are not evil. I was just adding a sentence to the existing rule. Maybe the existing rule needs review along the lines you mention, but I don't think we want to overload newbies with the subtleties. KISS for your first few questions.

While I'm sure it's a wonderful article, the fact it says Edit in the title doth not mean it should be with articles about edit controls...

I don't know if the author or an editor put it in the wrong spot, but it should probably be moved.

Editing Ribbon Bar Images is in the Edit Controls category (but because it's a technical blog on its article surface you can't see its category)
