Currently when a comment is added for example to a question, it's sended to the person who created the question. If somebody (including the author of the question) would want to send a comment to the editor of the question, there's no direct mechanism for that.
Would it make sense to add such capability?

I don't think so because most who edit a question are doing so to improve readability, not because they may be an expert in the field. Having notifications sent purely because you cleaned up someone's mess is a disincentive I would think.
[Edit: I was initially thinking about your request as a "every comment posted to a question gets sent to all editors" but I see you're thinking purely on a "how do I contact an editor directly" type thing. Still not sure it's worth it, but would like to hear your thoughts]
What scenario are you thinking about?

Thanks for the reply, yes you're right I'm thinking an optional mechanism where basically anyone could send a message to the editor.
One scenario is when a modification is rolled back. As you said, editing is normally done to enhance readability so if it's rolled back the author could add an explanation why.
Perhaps another usage could be when sequential edits are made. The latter editor could add a comment what else has been done for the post. If it's the first edit this info would be sent to the author.
I think the 'big' thing would be to learn how good edits are made and to the authors, what were the initial problems with the post. Also if the author just wants to comment something about the editing, that would be possible.
Now when I'm thinking this a bit more, it sounds more like an 'editor notes' system which would be a parallel chain of comments to the actual question and it's comments.
Makes any sense?

I edited this[^] Q&A entry and inadvertently removed some detail relevant to another solution entry. When I tried to rollback to the OP's original, the system refused as the entry was less than 100 characters. This seems inconsistent with the default 30 character minimum when creating a Q&A.
