A month or two ago, when you clicked the Reply link to a forum post, the focus ended up in the 'Text:' area. You could click 'Reply' and start typing immediately.
After the revamped editing appeared, I'm not sure where the initial focus is. I have to either click in the 'Text:' area, or tab several times.
If it makes a difference, I'm using IE8.

I had the same problem for days. Finally I moved to IE9. It's as if Chris promised to help the IE team by getting more people to move to IE9

I can't move to IE9, as this is on my primary development machine at work, which is still running XP.
I may have confused the issue slightly, because I only upgraded from IE7 to IE8 recently. If I had a choice, I think I would go back to IE7. The font size changes in IE8 are extremely annoying. I have to keep the zoom level set to 125% for things to be readable.

Sigh. The majority of our products[^] run on XP, so that's what our development machines run. Also, corporate IT is glacially slow about updating operating systems and such. There would be Profound Consequences if we updated to Win7 without their permission  .

We routinely have to replace hard drives in our development machines because the sectors where pagefile.sys is written have been worn through.

Have you tried moving the page file to a new sector, and then maybe rebalancing the platter with a bit of, say, chewing gum or something to make up for the reduction in material on one side of the platter? It'll speed things up by allowing it to spin faster. Trust me.

I'll try that. Given our recent austerity measures(*), the bean counters will love it.
(*) They laid off all of our contract employees, including our technicians  . We now have expensive engineers doing the work our $15/hour techs used to do  .

This is an issue with IE8. Still trying to get it sorted.
Works fine on IE9, Chrome and FF. Not that I would ever suggest members ditch old browsers like they were last month's TouchPad or anything

Unfortunately I'm using XP for this particular box, which means I'm stuck with IE8. Corporate IT frowns(*) on 'non-aligned browsers' (i.e. not IE, pardon the expression), so Firefox/Chrome would be problematic.
(*) They have been known to remotely uninstall such things using their system mangling management toolset.

Like dead bodies, things sometimes float to the surface if you go mucking about in the mud.
(We're looking into it)
Mr Sergio himself tipped us off: Some of his articles had been deleted many moons ago - possibly drafts or incomplete articles he didn't get a chance to finish. We made a change over the weekend that now allows you to delete permanently, or better still, undelete old, deleted articles, and it was the latter that Bill took advantage of.

While his responses have been childish and he has seemingly shown no intention to put a stop to your "fight", he's a relative newbie/infrequent poster here.
But as a long time member who's well respected here, why did you have to retort with an insuting response? You could have ignored it and moved on to the next post. You are very good Mark, but you could be better than very good if you could try and control your "semi-rude" auto-responses (just my opinion).
