Is the Metro UI against separators in menus?

... ask a few of us oldies to beta test the new UI ? (Or maybe I just reckoned I am not member of the club).
I am feeling microsofted.
Feedback (if any required): Overall very good, for the rest, same as everyone (separate threads more clearly (with a light orange shade?), grey on white is not senior-friendly, too much space kills the space, too much white kills the white.)

Hey, I'm (reasonably) happy with the new layout, and using it as I type. It's even better when I set text size to 90% in Chrome. Pah, you kids know nothing. 
One of these days I'm going to think of a really clever signature.

And no, I don't think it was you, you would have told me so.
I have to admit that I'm not generally negative to the new layout, even if it might seem so from my posts.
I'm only negative to specifics. And it seems to me that most people have similar opinions about which shortcomings there are.
And they will be ironed out soon enough I believe.
I'm also using 90% size by the way.

Any reason the main menu (e.g., home) is not Title case? I prefer Title case. Let my will be done. Pretty please!

In your sig, the b in "My blog" needs to be capitalized. Just saying!

Firstly, I think it did need an update. The old orange and fixed Arial text looked a bit 90s.
However I do have a few complaints:
- The forum bar on the left no longer shows all forums,
and nor does it have highlighting for forums with new posts. This is how I have always navigated around the forums I'm interested in and I think that is a big mistake. There is plenty of vertical space to still have a full list there and to bring back highlighting of the current forum and forums with new posts. Edit: actually, it does have highlighting. But I can't see it for all forums without expanding every section manually. - It is an unstructured sea of white. It will hurt my eyes after not very long, and it's hard to see the structure of the page. I think the navbars (left and top) should have some shading, a pastel orange perhaps.
- In articles, H3 headings are more prominent than H2 ones. Make H2s a darker orange, or bold.

1. I wanted to be consistent with the sidebar nav in the article section tables of contents, plus, for those viewing 10 or 25 messages per page the nav bar was longer than the messages. It's a subjective call, but I still prefer the minimal view
2. I've already been threatened with physical violence if I bring in any more pastel
3. I tweaked these earlier. Should be good now (though may Ctrl+F5 to force a CSS reload)

In the old forum, the submenus were expanded, and showed unread messages by highlighting the forum in bold. Now, I have to click on them to expand (ie, before switching from the C# to the Database-forum)
That's an extra click, compared to the old version; one that does not add or improve anything to the experience. I'd like to see the complete list expanded, and, now that I'm requesting features anyway; a count (right-aligned) that shows how many unread messages are in that forum would be kind of nice too

With the new UI, my article[^] layout has taken a hit. The article header is pushed below the article (above the author profile). In FF, the first heading (Introduction) appears center justified (okay in IE).

I'm not sure. There was some style sizing on the images I removed, and I cleaned up some whitespace in the <pre> tags, but I wouldn't have thought either of those items would be so destructive.
