I am pretty sure all those born between 1970 and 1990 have 3 Lives to start with unless you get 1 ups as proven by Super Mario. The newer generation unfortunately has only one life, but if you get to save before you die you can retry. But as they say in church "Only Jesus saves". So by that logic newer generations is screwed as they don't save, older generations at least start with 3 lives and can get 1ups!
