Sorry to hear that. Yes, that is a problem. I also have a friend on facebook that has passed away. But his facebook account is still active... That's quite strange.

yes, but how? You don't have the login credentials. Perhaps you could send a death certificate to linkedin. and facebook, outlook.com, gmail, yahoo, twitter, ...

Death certificates aren't issued in the name of the user, same as birth certificates. My BC is not in the name of "OriginalGriff"
How would they tie the DC to the user, given the number of "John Smith" and "John Doe" there must be written on DC's already?

All/most social sites have processes to deal with dead people; either the account will be deactivated, removed, made read-only or turned into a "memorial".
LinkedIn, facebook, twitter, ... all have process for that.
Does CP have a policy for such event?
