So today is the last time I can skip giving MS a phone number to verify, ah well I have used hotmail for over a decade as my junk email account  now I am going to have to find another if I want to ever inspect the rubbish again.
Google already has my details, android phone, and I have 2 domains so there is plenty of choice but I did like the anon of the hotmail account.

I've never got spam on my cell phone. And they've had my phone number for years.

That they have a valid phone number for the account, as to why, seems obvious in these days of big data trying to link up your online and meat entities.

Did you give Google the mobile number or do they take from the phone? If they take it was it something they advised of?
I have a GMail account on my phone but can't remember if they told me they were taking it.
I always give the folling phone number when some stupid online twat has it as a required field, 040F-UCK-YOU. No one has sent anything to it to make me verify I own it.
For Apple ID, GMail, Microsoft Accounts and the like mine and the kids have Sunshine and Elephant all through the addresses but without the subtle replacement words used here on Code Project.

Google, I have no idea if they asked, it is a requirement that you have a gmail account if you have an android phone (I'm pretty sure). So naturally they get the meat link.
Just tried to update my hotmail profile with your phone Quote: 040F-UCK-YOU
number and there is nowhere to enter a phone number. It seems to only be during the login that they ask for the number.

I think it is really sad. I used to sit up in the stupid early hours of the morning before school in the early 70's watching Rocky and Bullwinkle, Boris and Natasha and Sherman and Peabody. The fact that these pretty sh*tty cartoons are now making it as major movies means there really is nothing left in Hollywood as far as ideas go.
When do I see Marine Boy the movie? I mean it was my favourite cartoon by far back in 1974/5.

We took the passel of short ones this weekend. They have done a pretty good job with it. We all enjoyed it quite a lot.
Only complaint is that the girls (Penny?) was a huge bully and brat and there was never an apology for that, so the chance to give that moral was totally lost.

So I'm on to the start into a nice weekend of my vacation, working all day long on my carpenters workbench I'm building in my cellar for the last two weeks. For relaxation purposes I wander into the ever surprising world of Q&A. Grey posts where ever I look. OK, some do deserve it maybe, but me thinks there is too much of this going on.

There appears to be a group who's instant response to anything that isn't phrased exactly how they like it is to ignore that it is a complete beginner that asked and abuse vote it as "not a question"
I assume that this is a cheap way to accumulate rep points, either that or they are rude arrogant sunshines. Quite possibly both.
I do know that it annoys the elephant out of me, and others - and that it is in no way to the benefit of the site.

I know what you mean. I've hit the downvote button a fair number of times myself, but only in the cases where the "question" is "How do I write an application?".
There are also those posts where the person thinks they're asking a question, giving some specs or something like that, but they never ask a question. What they're really doing is telling a story and assuming you're going to know the question they don't want to ask. This is happening quite a lot. A ton of people hit downvote on those as well.
Are they correct in doing so?? Hmmm...
It seems every question posted has something wrong with it, but to varying degrees.
I agree, the downvote button is getting hit a bit too much.
