Seeing Obama signing some paper[^] I just realized... The guy has the solution to my problem of the ever disappearing pen (i.e. pen on my desk tend to disappear).
I need a nice replacement pen box refilled regularly by my faithful underlings!

The only way to cope with pens disappearing from your desk is to take every opportunity to keep hold of someone else's pen when you get the chance.
I don't believe anyone has owned a pen from it's first use to it's last.
You cannot truely own a pen, it merely spends some short moment of time with you then it is gone to someone else.

I have a notebook at work with 99% of the ink from one pen inside of it. I'm on my second pen now, working on emptying it a little bit each day. You just have to be vigilant with your pen!

There was a story a year or two ago about some fella in Switzerland I think who was caught going very fast in a very expensive car and was looking at a record breaking fine.

I remember when they were testing the original speed cameras here in Qld... turns out if you were going 247km/hr or faster, you were out of the frame before the picture had been captured.
I also remember seeing a speed camera pic of a guy caught doing 236km/hr and thought "man, if you had just gone that smidge faster!!"

They're not trying to slow anyone down, or deter anyone from any of the other crimes they're raising the fines for, they're just trying to increase revenue.
