XP with an updated core PLEASE! They seem have touch screen mad, I for one don't like touch screens (banana fingers, scarred to heck) Vista was a disaster (I still have a completely new unopened OEM copy) Win7 better but not the XP killer. Win8 a halfway house between tablet/phone desktop OS, Why?

Windows threshold is built on Windows 8 and is likely to be Windows 8.2 to bring back the old start menu and to make windows more like XP, I hope this makes Windows more enjoyable for you.

Well I know things have to change, it's the way Win8 divorced itself from previous versions, there was no gradual change as there was 98-2000-XP-Vista(?)-XP-Win7 all those versions came with enough commonality after about an hour you could use them. Win8 WTF?, unlike previous versions you looked for Z in the old place, find Z some where else. Z was dead baby!

As is most Microsoft Training, I have found it easier to figure out what I need to know by doing,
breaking things and then fixing them. Win 8 seems to get around that by hiding everything I need (Device Manager etc.) it takes too long to find them. Also there appears to be a change to the Interface Layer (with regard to drivers) that appears to get in the way of some of my applications...
