It SO pisses me off that when you go to install Java, it comes along with all this other crap. And they're not alone in this BS behavior. It's one of the reasons I never click on "default installation" but make sure that under the custom option, there's isn't a load of crap that I don't want it to install.

Not sure if anyone is interested or if the software is shite, but I got 10 licenses for AUD$19.22. It'd have to be spectacularly faarrrkkkked for me to feel like I got ripped off.
FileSeek[^] on BitsDuJour[^].

I'd hope so, for that money I could get almost 30 licenses for FileSeek.

You can use FileLocator Lite or Agent Ransack for free. It's still worth it. The full version just adds a few more capabilities.

I'm just being a smart arse. I only bought FileSeek because of the cheap price going on Bits DuJour and then upped it to 10 licenses when I saw the multi purchase discount was added on top of the limited time special offer.

Probably have enough computers around to use them all, nut actually threw a couple of extra on for a couple of unemployed mates that will use them.

But why, Michael? Do you have that many PCs with lost files you need to find?
What would be really useful is a cheap utility to locate exact duplicates of files, and allow you to select which ones to delete. I have many such files, since over the years, as I've constructed new PCs and installed bigger drives, I've copied the entire contents of previous drives to the current one. It's no where near full, but like the inside of my head, it's cluttered in there...

Cause at AUD$1.92 each I couldn't buy less.

I already have a tool that does that, bought it > 10 years ago and it has a lifetime license. Keep getting updates.

Given that I've now had as much cheap scotch tonight as you had Bundy's when you made the purchase, I can't argue the logic in that. Makes perfect sense...

Why, after all these years, is there still no standard for basic features of SQL. For example, the syntax for returning only [n] rows.
Top vs Limit[^]
This sort of stuff drives me nuts, as it requires a call out to the specific DB interface to properly generate the SQL for specific DB provider. Argh.
And if you want to do something more complex, like offsets and limits, this[^] is a fun read illustrating the syntax differences.

As said, vendor lock in. It was the same thing (sorta still is a bit) with the web for years. Everyone wants you to think "their way" is the best way.

LIMIT does make paging super easy. I know it's easier to do in SQL Server these days, but with LIMIT it's as easy as this:
SELECT * FROM mytable LIMIT 50, 50;
Assuming you're showing 50 records per page and currently viewing the second page.

Personally, I'd rather dump SQL completely, and go for a binary interface that doesn't let idiots leave themselves wide open to SQL Injection - but that's just crazy talk!

You're thinking way too progressive man. Might one wanna take time to cherish the old archaic way. This way we don't have to learn new concepts.
