Use to be you could listen to the Minecraft soundtrack on Youtube while doing your work. It was great work music.
Now, it's mostly remix crap. The bad guys posting a mix of rap and 80's electronica, that is rewiring my brain like a bad Outer Limits episode.
Guess I better buy the real sound track now.... oh my, it worked....

One word: Spotify!
Worth every penny (if you pay you don't have to listen to their stupid ads), and they have some great playlists. I particularly enjoy the deep focus stuff.

Have been looking at the various snow pictures in the 'papers' and I really must be seeing things......
Picture 18 (of 19)2 at http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/uk-weather-travel-live-updates-4879760[^] says "A lorry has been abandoned on Mapperley Rise Nottingham", I am maybe mistaken, but I'm pretty sure I can see the driver still sat in his drivers seat...

That's his ghost.
He has been stranded in the middle of no-where for so long, and in such deep snow that he died of lack of Yorkie Bars after ten or eleven minutes...
That's not heavy snow! That's just a light sprinkling...I've ridden motorcycles in much, much worse than that.

Yeah - OK, when we had a foot of snow back in 2010 life was ... um ... interesting.
But nothing unmanagable, with care.
Admittedly, I was in the Shogun for that lot, and did engage 4WD - but I'm pretty sure I didn't actually need it.

The trouble is that most years there are about two days when it snows, and the snow settles.
So everyone panics and assumes that "pedal to the metal" is the way to get moving, or keep moving once you are sliding. I've seen people getting into real difficulties in 4WD cars on 1" of snow, while I just plodded on past on a Moto Guzzi 1100cc V Twin with more than that built up on my visor!
It's a PITA: because we get so little "real" snow, when it happens the whole infrastructure falls apart. If we got a month's worth every year, people would know what to do. But no ... if they made skidpan training part of the driving test it would help!

Been lurking for several years, since I did not think I had much to contribute - but this brought up memories of my brother and I riding bicycles (single speed!) in Anchorage, AK. all year long. He still rides to work every day - 5 miles or so, at 4AM, as has never had a drivers license. I have seen snow up to his knees and he just smiles and pedals though it. He will be 56 this year (2015) and I think he is slowing down, though. His neighbor takes him to work sometimes when is -10F and 2 feet of snow.

Last place I worked full time I had that printed out and stuck on my monitor. My supervisor had senior management talk to me and get it removed.
I told senior management and the supervisor that if that was how I felt they would already be dead, and seriously, did they think I would need a weapon to f*** the whole office over if I wanted too.
I spent a lot of time in Canberra after that and when that contract finished they didn't find me another position, I was retrenched.
