No. If you want to develop for Iphone or ipad you will, and have to pay for a dev account

Certainly not. I do Android stuff on Windows using IntelliJ.
Not that it matters, but I don't even do Ruby on Rails development in *nix.

No. The popular (and free) Android IDEs (Eclipse, Android Studio) as well as the emulators run identically on both Win and Mac. If you were to use Xamarin, you could use either a Mac or Win box, unless you choose to use VStudio, in which case you'd need to run Windows.

Nope, you can get booze in the international hotels etc. There is also one central store where non-locals with resident permits and a liquor license can buy alcohol, but it must be transported straight back to your home without detour.

In Amman, you could get British Army surplus fry-up ingredients from here[^] which was a bit weird. Mostly it was non-Jordanians but you could see locals entering furtively, it looked like they were trying to buy drugs or something, very funny.

After having confirmed you wrote an articled about data historians (OSISoft PI system), and using the system myself, my question is: will you be using the PI system at your new digs? I know it is used heavily in the oil/gas industry.
