Yup. I have the pleasure of working on an Alpha box controlling some embedded stuff here. A year or two ago we inquired about a controller upgrade from the vendor and were quoted an amount equal to 10-20% of the annual budget for the contract we're using it on.  With the further caveat that since parts of our system had never been upgraded to work with an x86/Linux controller PC they couldn't guarantee that we'd have a working system at the end of the attempt.

At least they are not asking you the enhance the existing program. Nice contract, rewriting an existing app, you only need to understand and duplicate the functionality.

You just have to love spaghetti, then everything is going to be good. It would be a small wonder if there actually was a documentation worth reading and the old program did not turn out to be a sinister hack. And if you actually get hold of one of the hackers, his only use will be to be offended and constanty blurp out 'What do you want? It works!' Or it at least has sucessfully pretended to work somehow all the years.

Bloody hell I used to write spaghetti when I started with VBA, while my memory is a little dodgy I bet I could get the lay of it! I remember when the benchmark of success was "well it works".
Now I have to jump on any of the sprogs who try and get spaghetti through the reviews.

I had to go to MSDN to get a copy of VFP 2009 just to see what I had; I haven't done FoxPro in many, many years

I like the gifs that start off innocent, then flash something scary really fast, making me sh*t my pants.
With that said, I was expecting something scary the entire time I watched this gif. 
Needless to say, I was relieved that I didn't have to change by undershorts.
