Well i just read that it has it's problems with a lot of sunlight, so outdoors yes with the premisse that the spot isn't bathed in sunlight. Because of the IR, objects in sunlight can't be differentiated :/

Depends on what sort of outdoors. I was putting together a security cam system for our place and was reading specs on these cameras. Most of the operating temps only get down into the -10c range, which most of the time would be okay. Except last winter we had a week where it kept going much lower than that.
I haven't had much luck finding ones that can go colder.
