Except, of course, that Chris Beard was talking about the policy of making Edge the default browser, not the privacy policies. Any article that misquotes someone in this way is itself not trustworthy.

Odd - it comes up with a "you've reached your five article limit this month" message for me.
Tried a different browser, and the article shows, albeit with an annoying pop-over ad.

There are still people working at the factory, though. Three workers check and monitor each production line and there are other employees who monitor a computer control systems. Previously, there were 650 employees at the factory. With the new robots, there's now only 60. Luo Weiqiang, general manager of the company, told the People's Daily that the number of employees could drop even further to 20 in the future.
The robots have produced almost three times as many pieces as were produced before. According to the People's Daily, production per person has increased from 8,000 pieces to 21,000 pieces. That's a 162.5% increase.
The increased production rate hasn't come at the cost of quality either. In fact, quality has improved. Before the robots, the product defect rate was 25%, now it is below 5%. [^]

I see this as the New World Order. It's happened in the U.S., though unions try to stop it as much as possible. No longer can an uneducated person expect to have a middle class life in a developed country. And it will be even harder for the millennials and their children.

Even that's not as far as it can go. About a year ago I was talking with one of my parents neighbors. Her son's one of an IIRC half-dozenish of people who keep a fully automated factory that previously would've had 500-1000 workers running. It's supposedly a very good paying job because it needs someone who's an engineer, a computer network person, *and* who is willing to get his hands dirty anytime something goes wrong.

Microsoft has altered Windows 10 so that users have to explicitly set a default app for applications like mail, calendar, or web browsers. I don't know what's more shocking: that Microsoft did this, or that Mozilla's complaining

I haven't used Mozilla for a while but I fired it up again for some testing and that top add-in bar is starting to get crowded. Might be time to revert back to Netscape Navigator given all the things they are shoving in there.
What's the story with default mail, calendars and browser on, say, Google Chrome, or MacOS?
Someone isn't trying to piggyback on a big news item for attention, are they?

Microsofts Cake is bigger in the Desktop OS market. And everyone wants to have a piece of it as well. And if they can't do it on their own, they even force Microsoft to do so (at least in Europe, where Microsoft had to change it from delivering Windows with just IE to letting the user choose a browser).

That judgement expired recently, although may be renewed. However, MS could argue that they are no longer in as strong a monopoly position - Android, iOS and Macintosh all have larger shares now.
Personally, I find it more objectionable that Apple will allow no other browsers at all on iOS (unless they use Safari behind the scenes).

Having watched the video, the new UX sucks. I'm fine with making the change in an OS component to prevent crapware from showing deceptive dialogs; but the default apps app (  ) should open with the pick default web browser selector open so all the user has to do is make a single click in it to set their preference.

If you pay attention to what you're clicking during the upgrade, it doesn't change the default browser.
There was one screen which mentioned setting default programs, with an option to customise. Click the customise button, un-tick Microsoft Edge, and the previous default browser is retained.
