I remember, even I told most of QA inquirers to Google their problems first, and look what I found today. If I try to search for megabyte to kilobyte[^], it gives me wrong (so wrong) answer. I wonder how many inquirers I wasted myself.

Your search link above doesn't search for "megabyte to kilobyte", it searches for "megabyte to"
If I enter "megabyte to kilobyte" in google search, i get plenty correct answers and a little conversion calculator at the top of the result pages.
Edit: If you are referring to the actual "google is your friend" website, it looks poop......just stick to old faithfull lmgtfy.

No, that's right: the definition was tightened up some years ago.
1 Kilobyte = 1000 bytes.
1 Kibibyte = 1024 bytes.
Similar structures exist for the megabyte (106) and mebibyte (1,048,576)

Basically the kilobyte was redefined in the not too distant past.
It smells largely of lobbying by the hard drive makers who always sell us short by measuring to 1000 instead of the commonly accepted 1024 value for kilo when it comes to space.

SI (or metric) prefix Mega stands for the 1,000,000 multiple of unit; kilo - for 1000, etc. The 'kilobyte/megabyte' jargon used by computer folks is a bit fuzzy and is NOT in compliance with SI exact definitions: so, the "academically accurate" would be using kibibyte for 1024 and so on. This is for those of the older generation who do not really comprehend why Facebook exists.
Presently, I am trying to make friends outside of Facebook while applying the same principles.
Therefore, every day I go down on the street and tell the passers-by what I have eaten, how I feel, what I have done the night before and what I will do tomorrow night. Then I give them pictures of my family, my dog and me gardening and spending time in my pool.
I also listen to their conversations and I tell them I love them.
And it works.
I already have 3 persons following me: 2 police officers and a psychiatrist.
