Windows activation is alive and well in Windows 10. Microsoft doesn't like to talk about the inner workings of its anti-piracy software, but it's clear from testing that Windows 10 included a major change in the way activation works. As long as it stops telling my my copy isn't "Genuine" (when I got it from them)

Even when users reinstalled a clean version of Windows on some Lenovo devices, the software would still reappear. But I'm sure it was really valuable software

A friend bought a Lenovo Yoga 3...what a PITA it was to get rid of that malware. The thing hasn't worked right from day one. Lenovo is on my black list, bigtime.

I have a Yoga 2. Will be my last. Not mentioned in the current list but was a possibility in the Superfish scandal. I think mine was early enough to miss it and it appeared to pass all the various tests. And I've not noticed anything unusual since. But it doesn't leave me with a warm and fuzzy feeling.

IMO code like this hides real bugs, I'd much rather get a null exception and figure out why the variable is NULL instead of been fooled into thinking evreything is working because it didn't crash.

COBOL will NEVER go away, there's just waaaay to much code written in it. Every time you buy food at the supermarket, every time you withdraw money from your account, every time you take a book out from a library etc etc. COBOL is ubiquitous and it's here to stay.

Cisco announced that it been working on a next-generation open source video codec, called Thor, that should sidestep all patent issues that current codecs such as the HEVC have presently. You mean like Ogg, VP9, Daala, XVid...? Great unique idea!
