At what point does it count as 'upgraded'? As I did an upgrade and it then failed to boot to the log-in screen.
Have I upgraded far enough to do a clean install do you think?

Perhaps not - I had to do a clean install (or the closest thing to it) by doing a restore from settings from Windows 10 (after the upgrade).
When I tried to do a clean install from the Windows 10 ISO, I still got asked for the key (which I don't have) even though I'd previously upgraded.
Microsoft haven't made the process very robust

It asked. But there should have been a skip option. Have they removed that now?
|

No, it was still there, but I assumed that it'd ask me once the install was finished? A bit of text from Microsoft explaining things there wouldn't have gone amiss..

I sort of took your advice, when running the install instead of doing the 'upgrade this PC' I did the create installation media option and created a DVD.
When installing from the DVD it gave me the option to skip the installing of updates at the current time, and everything installed just fine, Windows 10 is working well.
Still no idea how to use it mind!

Good to hear it's all working now
It took a couple of attempts to install it on one of my laptops before it worked properly

Unless advertised as being capable, my rule of thumb is to never upgrade the OS on laptops. There's always one or two drivers that aren't compatible.

I'll change the link - just for you (I hope it's gonna work. Can't verify it, because Google reroutes google.com queries to google.se on my computer)!

What? No haggis jokes? I'm appalled (and a little disgusted by the thought of them). So here's one:
You have to hand it to chefs who make haggis.
It takes guts.
Didn't say it was a good one, but then again: Neither is haggis...

Haggis is interesting. Cant say I like it, but it is satisfying though. Kind of like dumplings, its good stodge!

Bakers in the village I live in makes and sells haggis rolls, like sausage rolls but with haggis instead of sausage meat.
I've not yet summoned up the courage to eat one.
Although around a month ago I was in a pub when someone bought over a large pork pie that had a layer of haggis running through it, that was pleasant enough smeared with English mustard.

Where is this village, and do the bakers deliver to the south coast?

I like haggis! It goes very well with tatties & neeps, with a tot of a good single malt.
And they are fun to catch as well - particularly if you have tourists to help...

Au contraire, mon brave. Haggis (real haggis, not the plastic substitute you get in supermarkets) is the height of gastronomic delight. Now I'm down in Devon I have to get my local butcher to put in a special order for it so it attracts a premium price but it's worth every penny!
