AFAIK that is EFs primary functionality, model and manage the movement of data from the store to the business layer. Remembering that my knowledge of EF is pretty shallow Blush | :O

Most of us will have built our own ORM and data access layer, some predating EF by some years, mine started out in the mid 90s!
