Maybe, maybe not. It depends. Much code doesn't need to be "ported", just recompiled. As such it may or may not be faster. But speed's not usually the reason to "port" the code, the reason is access to more memory than 32bit code will allow. So fighting, arguing and debating the speed implications is ridiculous and pointless.
