You're probably right though I vaguely remember a time when it wasn't like that. It's just that I thought madam's antics had begun to catch up with her last year and there might be an end in sight. Now they've gone and given her another dollop of vindication, will we ever be free?

There are dozens of movie and music awards annually to make sure everyone gets an award in something. Most people who live here do not give a damn about these awards. It's mostly 12-17 year olds, primarily female, who keep track of these things.

Your giving a damn, even a little, belies your vulnerability.
I couldn't care less about actors/actresses/pro-athletes/&etc. Overpaid waste.
Consider this example (for a movie): If you watch a movie and can still pay attention to who the actual actors/actresses are, then they're not very good actors/actresses. They should, if they do their job well, lead you to perceive them only as the character they play.
Now, if you accept that the above is an (the !) important attribute of acting, then consider a logical consequence: it doesn't matter who plays a part - if you accept them for the film's reality then it doesn't matter - and thus there's no reason to pay high-priced hacks when the world is full of talented people who would do the job for waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay le$$.
In my opinion, at least.

But it does. In an ideal world it perhaps shouldn't but this is not an ideal world. The high-priced 'hacks' (a description which we'll have to discuss another time) guarantee audiences even for films that are less than stellar so they more than return the investment in them.
There is nothing new in this. Long before TV and even film there were star performers who were cast in theatre productions as much for their ability to put bums on seats as their acting chops; Herbert Tree, Mrs Patrick Campbell, Lillie Langtry, Sarah Siddons, Maurice Barrymore.

But that's my point - going to see a movie because of who's in it - even though it's a remake of a stinker with no plot. Or the other worthless endeavor: sports stats - effort spent on memorizing pointless nothing by people who won't put the effort into knowing what's happening in the world around them . . . but, in the bathroom, they can discuss 'their' team and argue how many pro's can dance on the head of which pins. But - and this is the big but (butt): they are 'in' with the crowd because they know the proper passwords.
Think of the stupidity of how they note how much money a film's making on some weekend. Then, of course, they point out that it's being overtaken by another films box-office. Never mind having enough brains to consider that it's been out, everyone's seen it, so it's going to lose box-office.
That being said - you're quite right. It just outrages me that those who produce nothing (remember, the writer wrote the story!) get paid so much and produce nothing.

I don't think she busts her ass - singing. It may be hard for her on the road at times, but I don't think she works as hard as the rest of us, day in, and day out.

I know this was answered (may have been an LCD) recently, but I can't remember and have never gotten the CP search to do anything.
So I signed up to Netflix last week along with a VPN and Thursday or Friday night got in to using it. The kids are off and running on the iPad with the App and I had the old laptop with HDMI running Netflix through Firefox on the TV. The TV is showing up as SAMSUNG running 1920 x 1080 and Firefox was only slightly bigger than the visible portion of the TV. This made little to no difference especially when running at Full Screen.
Yesterday the Mother In-Law discovered her DVR was not recording her TV shows. The laptop and Netflix was blamed, so I disconneted the laptop HDMI and it's recording. No idea why this is, just that the HDMI 1 and 2 ports on the TV seem to share something. But that's not my question.
The boy in his infinite wisdom unplugged the Raspberry Pi on HDMI 4 and then the running laptop from HDMI 2 and plugged it in to HDMI 4. Now Firefox is huge (I know it's the scaling of the screen) and when expanded I can't see the Address Bar and quite a bit below.
So what do I have to do to Windows 7 to get the Samsung Plasma TV to not only run at 1920 x 1080 but to fit to visible.

Disable overscan on the TV (for the selected input):
There is no unique naming for the menu setting on the TV. It may be "Size", "Aspect Ratio", "Screen [xxx]", "Format".
Once you found the setting menu, change the option which again may have various names like "Just Scan", "Fit", "Full".
If the picture is not OK now you must also adjust underscan/overscan on your laptop. This is usually done with the control center software provided by the video card manufacturer.

Some ATI-cards have also this "feature" called bug hidden in their stomack. 
Press F1 for help or google it.
