In a post released today on the Windows experience blog, Microsoft claims that interfering with Cortana’s workflow in this way circumvents the purpose of Cortana and prevents it from working as optimally as possible- to that end the firm is locking down Cortana to Microsoft Edge browser only. So much for asking Cortana to get you a decent browser

I've used iTunes on my Mac for the last 7 years and it's always worked flawlessly - yet I see these kind of comments all the time.
I'm curious, what exactly do so many people hate about it? And what do they use in place of it?
Back when I used Windows at home I seem to recall WMP was nothing to rave about.

/shrug It works for me too, but I'm the worst one for testing software - if it's not actively broken (like Windows is for me at the moment), I'm willing to live with just about anything.
I know Hanselman complains that "working with iTunes is like managing your music library with Excel" (or something like that).
And yeah, anything said about iTunes can also apply to WMP, as it was a pretty direct copy. But then again, I don't know if people are even using it for their music anymore.

As Windows Media Player has been around since 1991, while iTunes has been around since 2001 (making the headline article a bit crap at maths), I don't really see how WMP can be the copy.
