I was surprised by both how quickly the update (from 8.1) went, and also surprised that it took me only about an hour ... after install ... to turn off about 100 "features." And, almost spooked that it didn't crash !
Even after removing the infestation of UI-Ebola MS calls "live tiles," I still didn't like the Win10 Start Menu, so went to StarDock and got Start10 for US $3.99 (you get a dollar off if you bought Start8).
Next-up was using Sergey's WinAero Tweaker (free) to turn off scads of festering perversity [^]. Then followed various wanderings through the fetid miasmal bowels of Win de-activaating this and that.
The only thing I haven't been able to get rid of is the display of a picture of a beach as seen from a cave that is presented until you click something to get to the log-in screen.
Okay, Microsoft, I can't complain ... yet.

Right click Desktop -> Customize -> Lock screen -> Background -> Change to whatever you like

you are really generous with Microsoft considering how much work you had to go through to get it how you liked it. At least it is more like windows 7 than windows 8. Is that a step forward or a step back. Not sure.

I go with Classic Shell (free) rather than paying for the StarDock solution. I've used StarDock apps for many years, but stopped, because they became so buggy.
When you are dead, you won't even know that you are dead. It's a pain only felt by others.
Same thing when you are stupid.

I just became obstinate with MS constantly bombarding me with "GET YOURS NOW!!" popups. Yes, I have a live account 
day after day I would click the offer off, but I could not bring myself to upgrade my dev laptop. I do have a dev VM running Windows 10. I guess when I replace my laptop in a few years, I'll get to 10. Then I'll install a few VMs with Windows 7
