Calling chess stupid because your parents forced you into it - that's a foolish thing. Besides, you did make your comprehension of the game apparent by explaining what you understood about it - how bishop moves in angles, and how you know to ride horses, but they can't jump in L shape, etc.

I joke with people, in an appropriate place where people can take a joke -- the CP Lounge, in case it doesn't twig.
You were not joking. You were persistently rude and unashamedly insulting. There is no appropriate place for that kind of behaviour.
If you can't tell the difference, I very much doubt that you will ever have (or keep) many friends.

Respect isn't begged for, but earned. Respect is also mutual and doesn't work one way, but I'm not surprised about your ignorance on that one as well, since these things are taught in school and you must have dropped out at grade 3 or so.

Partly, but I didn't like the game even before it was thrust on me -- I was only forced to play because I kept beating people at it (including my schoolteachers).
"Quick! Tell the cavalry to take one pace forward and two to the side!"
"OMG! The king is in mortal danger of being killed stabbily by a turret! Get the queen and a bishop to defend him!"
It's just a plain and silly game, but it's put across as if it's a refined passe-temps for mature, intelligent people.
It could be fun, if it weren't for all the snootiness involved.
