We were dealing with Reuters and Bloomberg recently and discussing the validity and veracity of the rating agencies when someone suggested that there is an industry ripe for some disruptive technology.
The data providors have a monopoly and therefore charge huge fees for something that should be relatively simple to reproduce. Reputation is something that cannot be disrupted easily though.
The rating agencies have proven to be corruptible and really should be disrupted, possibly with something more than mere technology.
Are there any attempts out there to disrupt this industry that we just don't know of.

There are, yes, but they are (a) focused on a small part of the industry and (b) privately owned and publicity shy. Lots of AI and data mining involved.

The biggest money's made by those given he earliest access to the information before the lemmings move in, each step in the food chain having less an less of fair chance.

Years ago, supermarkets used to have minimum of 10 staffs at checkout counters. Now, automated self checkout counters... and hardly 2 staffs. So, what is going to happen for those who is loosing the jobs because of their role is replaced with a machine? Universal basic income is something I never thought of.....

Not really communism imo. More of a socialist policy. Most UBI theories center around a basic income that simply allows you to live whereas other sources of income (like work) are the same as in capitalism. You earn it you keep it. Communism rejects the idea of personal ownership of anything (wealth, religion, etc) while socialism promotes both personal ownership and community ownership which is why it works well alongside other systems like capitalism. The general premise being to help both yourself and the community.

Not really. Communisn really is all asset are owned by the government which also decide of your activities.
Communism nor Capitalism have nothing to do with the exact percent or absolute value of taxation.
That could as well be "ultra capitalism" with an absolute (i.e. not relative to your income) negative tax amount.
Now, did you mean "it sounds like USSR, I am afraid it's gonna turn bad for the same reason"?, well fear not, this look nothing like Russia! No goulag, no forced labor camp, no 5 years plan!

To be fair, no country on Earth has achieved true communism. True communism is the complete and utter surrender of all personal assets (including spiritual) to the state - including the highest ranking officials. All attempts including the USSR have been "corrupted" communism.

Although to be fair, there has been some case of enlightened elite on earth, Singapore past dictator wasn't too bad... I have trouble in believing in non democratic benevolent durable state though...

I grew up under communism - it has nothing to do with it... There is a real problem of more and more people without job to create some income (both to him and the country)...

Nothing. Until the unions start complaining, then: not enough, and with the wrong solution. Probably the same old trick, pour billions of public money into the creation of artificial jobs (naturally, fewer than were lost) that no one wants to have and don't have to be done.
I see no reason why the govt won't simply repeat the mistakes that it has made in the past. That's kind of their thing.

UBI is at best a stopgap measure on the way to a society (or world) sufficiently automated that one's needs are taken care of by the automation, not by UBI. I realize that is a "far far away, in another galaxy" concept, and with a lot of misery, probably war, definitely terrorism, and a significant reduction in personal freedoms, including the freedom to bear children, along the way. If we actually ever get there.

We could tax the one owning the asset? But looks like it's not gonna happen. While the 20th century was the most democratic century of all history, looks like oligarchy is making a come back in the 21st.

I dunno like the concept of UBI... I believe it is good for the economy at large (as opposed to the few richest).
But where will the money come from? All western government are starved for cash and could certainly not finance UBI on the back of the middle class, which is getting poorer and is the only one really taxed...
(poor have no money, rich are taxed less and less)
As for the demonetisation (as in a link inside your link) it's happening. But much less slowly that than he believes, I am pretty sure...
