Installed ESFile Explorer Pro and now find I cannot access my SD Card. The sdcard listed is the internal storage and I can't get the adding card.
I can see it through settings as a separate card but not in Total Commander or ES File Commander. There is a root access setting in both Apps but I can't get it to work as I don't have the Lenove Yoga Tab 3 Plus rooted and don't want too while under warranty.
When I added the card Android said it would make it look like I had the one giant internal memory. This doesn't seem to be how it is working as I see them separate in settings?
Just pissing me off as I want to put a Books and Magazines directory on the SD for EPUB and PDF to leave internal free.
Any ideas?

How big is the card, and what format is it?
Some Android machines can't read NTFS or exFAT SD Cards, just FAT32 (And Windows won't format an SD bigger than 32G as Fat32) because MS get a licence fee from NTFS and exFAT imlementations)
Looking at Herself's Samsung tablet with ES File Explorer and I can access the 64GB exFAT SD card without problems via "Local" ... "SD Card" on the LHS menu.

128GB, not sure the format but thought Fat32 out of the box. It has 4.65GB of data used including about 7 Apps, so it is being used but I can't get to it through anything.
Wouldn't have thought it would be so hard. I'm sure that sdcard, mnt/sdcard and storage/sdcard are all the same thing on this tablet.
Read something about access to the SD Card from Apps was changed in 5 as dodgy bastards were getting their Apps to faarrrkkkk things up when they had the access.

security settings?
my phones on walkabout but I vaguely remember a separate security option to allow access to SD card storage.

Any idea what version of Android the phone has? 5 was when SD Card access rules changed for Apps.
Read on one site about going to Settings -> Documents to have access for a given App, settings didn't exist under there for me.

It's a fairly recent android, I generally loaded each new update that came along. Android v7 - but it had that security a couple of updates earlier. (I went through disabling many apps from using devices they absolutely didn't need or I didn't want them to have (location/camera...)
I go settings->apps, then off the triple-dot/burger menu: app permissions->storage

If you have a windows laptop with a sd card slot just pop the stuff
in and check the properties..some come as exfs (like a sandisk 128gb microsd)
so then you need to get Windows GUI version of fat32format.[^] and format it as fat32

I have been learning java for around 2 months now and have realised, I actually have no interest in developing/programming software... ALTHOUGH, I do enjoy learning the Java language and the process. I really enjoy the challenges it gives; being able to be creative, problem solve and finding out new/efficient ways to make the end product...
I have been working on little projects such as quiz games and a calculator but, I find my self no longer interested in making advanced software like what a professional Java developer would develop.(As this was my goal at first)
I do have a huge interest in ethical hacking and would like to start the learning process for this field. So, if anyone knows if its best for me to stick with JAVA (Would this benefit me? Learning Ethical hacking?) or should I just move on, and spend my time on more suitable subjects such as networking,Databases,PHP,HTML ect.
Any help would be much appreciated!

Ethical hacking exists as ethical burglary exists. Demand will be low, and any criminal that has been convicted for doing it unethically will be seen as having more experience.

Learn C, write your own database-system. Once you know how a car works and is built, you'll have an easier time pointing out possible weak spots.

to do what you want to do you'll have to do all of those. i.e. java and n/w, db, php, html, etc.
But a question: is it be ethical to walk around a parking lot and check if every car is locked? - even if you intention is to lock those that were open. Well yes it is, but would the authorities believe you? Would the thug that caught you opening his door give you a reward or a punch in the face? Think about it.

Once I participated in a coding challenge that turned out to be a recruitment challenge from IBM... It was a JavaScript challenge as they looked after people that can read inside-out JavaScript code an find weaknesses and possible attacks...
So - the actual hacking you intend to do, will define the language you will use (read/examine), and you will have to be an expert in that... And while learning is very nice (and fun mostly), nothing compares to real-life experience... Without that you may be a theoretician of hacking but not one who does it...

Reason I taken interest in hacking was the fact it requires a broad knowledge of a wide range of different technologies, which requires creativity, problem solving etc to explore vulnerabilities. Now, when I said wasn't interested in software developing I meant just writing code for the matter of it just being software used for a companies/users benefit, which seems to be most, if not all the JAVA jobs these days. (If that makes sense.)
This is why i asked if it would be best for me to learn other subjects, more suitable to ethical hacking, rather than a language which seems to have little benefit/involvement in said field or will it help me later on?

I can't think of any form of computer programming that requires more attention to machine/hardware and context details than "hacking."
You want "broad" ? Go for algorithms and computer science theory.

Quite a different slant would be to learn ethics (philosophy) with an emphasis on computing.
Other than that if you want to learn about technologies and you are starting with one language then C is probably the best, because once you get the basics down you can start learning how to access hardware.
A project that might interest you is to learn how to read your hard drive directly. Be careful though that you do not write to it until you are very sure of what you are doing. You can do the same thing with USB, networks, etc.
