Hey there,
month after month, when I see the article contest "please vote" banner, I ask myself "why don't they have a category Mobile Development"?
Is it, because the frequency of mobile articles (android, ios, ...) is too low here on CP?
While, of course, C++ and C# are very likely the categories with the highest article frequency (by far...), still the question is "why nothing about mobile"... Today's IT world is all about mobile and cloud - maybe put those two together in a new voting category?
I personally have almost no touch with C++ or web development, so it's always a click in the C# section and a quick look through everything else, but there are often topics that are... well "everything else" 
What do you think about that?

There has been, but if you noticed the number of categories and new articles is steadily dropping on this site.

There is a category for "Mobile articles" - but if in a month there aren't sufficient articles of the required quality in a category, the few good ones go into "Everything else" and get voted there.
Since there are prizes for first and second place, if only one person produces a good article that month, it would be unfair to have a category that they automatically win.
If you want more Mobile articles to be voted on, start writing! Articles are open to all (provided they aren't spam or plagiarised, and reach the standard required to survive moderation). Spam and plagiarism are easily detected (we have a lot of experience) and both result in us throwing the "author" off the site.

Heya,
well, yes... I know I have only a handful articles published here, but I always take my time and try to find a topic that is not covered twice a week on a dozen of websites.
It's often a time factor to sit down and write a well formatted article, and to be honest, the authoring web interface here for articles often lets me fight the UI and not the content, but that's maybe just me

 I know what you mean! That's why I knocked up a tip: Using the Article Editor (without losing your hair in handfuls)[^] to make it a little easier.
But ... you can always write it as a Word document and submit that - the admins will reformat it to a article for you?
It generally takes me about ten times as long to write the words as it does the code that goes with them.

Hello Mike,
And yes, indeed, that we're using the same C++ and C# for writing Android and iOS mobile apps with one very little difference that to develop those mobile apps we're also using the specific IDEs, frameworks and libraries, other than for Windows/Linux desktop apps development.
Obviously that, those C++ and C# categories provide generalization that includes Android and iOS apps projects as well.
In my opinion, another reason why there's no such category is that basically there's a very small number of articles about mobile apps development.
Also, I have noticed that for the recent time, the number of articles taking a part in monthly contest became smaller due to insufficient publications. I wish that the number of good and useful articles contributed to CodeProject, in the future, would become larger.
Finally, if you would like to propose a mobile monthly contest articles category, just ask Chris or someone else in the CodeProject team, so they would think about it and probably create a separate category for mobiles.

I've restored them (just a matter of editing the question or an answer).
The issue was caused due to our Redis cache server. Over the last week it's been extremely unstable resulting in a number of outages, the latest being about an hour ago for 10 mins. We've been working night and day for the past few days to try and get to the bottom of it and so this weekend we'll simple build a fresh one and start fresh. Hopefully that will sort things out.
It's very odd though: a server (well, a VM) that's literally sat there for about 4 years ticking along and suddenly it goes all poltergeist on us.

Actually they do work occasionally, if you're lucky. The problem is that the moment you click one the time cookie gets updated so nothing is new any more.

I'm using latest Firefox 60.0.2 (64-bit) and keep getting this message after failing to reach a CP webpage:

Usually after another try I succeed. I have researched Firefox but this does not seem to be responsible for the issue.

I'm on the same version of Firefox and can't replicate the issue. If it keeps happening please let me know, and please also let me know which server if possible.

It has not been happening for the last day or so. The server name is not visible when this happens.

The next time this happens could you export the site certificate to file? Also, it sounds like the TLS handshake is being negotiated down to 0x0301 or below which is somewhat unusual.
