Oh yes, a bacon bush would be just perfect(*). Any pointers as to where I could find one?
(*) I did enjoy the occasional full English breakfasts when I was in the UK. They will kill you if you have them too often but the occasional one is quite good and filling. ( Apart from the bacon the beans and mushrooms where not bad either )

I was told Bacon Bushes were on sale at my local garden centre. I went to have a look, but as I approached one of them it suddenly leapt out and started shooting at me. Turns out I was in the ham bush aisle.

And as far as living off of vegetables? I scraped since 1971. My son, raised only on that sort of stuff, was on varsity sport teams (as was my youngest daughter). They did rather well in their studies, too. So apparently one can live quite well and get their protein and flourish.
Beans and nuts have serious protein content (just a quick couple of examples). So do grains (wheat-like more than rice-like in this domain).
You've been raised in a country drenched by propaganda bought-and-paid for by the meat industry. Eat what you want, but do get the facts straight.

I believe that a garden is for raising food for your table, while a farm is for raising food for sale.
We raise vegetables and chickens in our garden for our own consumption. We raise goats for sale — most are slaughtered for export or for dog food.

I wish I had a house/property, like my father and grandfather(s), because it is amazing what you can make. I grew up in a world where I moved to the job, instead of the other way around.
Now I make my own bread (like my mother, grandmother, and grandfather(s)) and understand why they kept gardens. Give me a garden and some spices (hopefully, from the same garden) and I will give you a meal that is better than a prepackage meal every time.

Some berries beat steak/bacon. Wild raspberries. Norwegian blueberries (very different from American Blueberries). Some varities of strawberries (although I like to pour a little cream over the strawberries, so it is not 100% vegetarian).
I think some vegetables are really tasty as well. If you grow your own carrots in the garden so you can pull finger sized ones up from the soil, wash the dirt off in cold water, and chew them five minutes after harvesting, then they are great! Cauliflower is great, too, either in a creamed soup, or baked with nuts and cheese. (Again, the cheese makes it not 100% vegetarian, but it suits the cauliflower taste very well.)

I walk into a convenience store an hour ago and took it for granted that the guys delivering the new stock all wore scarfs as face masks.
A year ago, if 3 guys went in to a store, when it was 90F (~32C) outside, everyone would have thought about a possible holdup. Now it is just same old, same old.
I found this entertaining and thought of the following.
Sorry, I deleted all the rest of my comments/thoughts, on account of it being a great scenario for a book. Which I have added to my ideas journal for future reference. I will share this with my brother (a published writer), and record all my ideas.
Hint: Most of those here that are ~40">=" years old, know what this can lead to (I hope). Most of those under 30 take the bull for granted.

You might have heard that most social network reinforce the media and point of view bubble that we have by prominently putting forward whatever view we already supports?
Well I dunno if they changed their algorithm, or if I fell through the cracks, or something...
Now on my Facebook page I got link I never got before, like a video on how to defend Christian Faith against Unbelievers.. This is like unreal...
Now I wonder should I watch the video out of curiosity? While it might enrich my knowledge of the world, simply watching such stupidity feels physically painful (quite literally!  )...

Mmm...
Come to think of it, this is a general problem. Simply engaging with some.. different people, feels painful sometimes. Not because they punch us or something. But the simple thought gap between us and them is simply too wide and hurting. Yet engaging them can be necessary.
One could wonder how could one do it without needless suffering?!

If it is really crystal clear for you that the video is just extrinsic stupidity... then you can have a look, maybe you might laugh your a... off

Before you know it, you'll be watching a video explaining how the lizard people from the hollow Earth, in cahoots with the last survivors from Atlantis, are using 5G to infect us with programmable chips so they can use us to mine for cryptocurrency, and only this expensive bit of tat that the video host happens to be selling will protect you.

I recently had some Jehovah witnesses at my door.
While I don't agree with what they're doing, they're still people so I'm nice to them.
So I asked "If there's a god, why would he allow so much suffering?"
The answer amazed me.
Apparently, God has a bet with the Devil that humanity can make it on its own.
Once we have proven ourselves and the Devil lost the best, God will return and make paradise on earth.
I literally told them "No offence, but your God is an a**hole if ever there was one! So much suffering for a bet with the Devil? How big is this guy's ego, how small is his dick?"
They understood my point, but still insisted he's merciful 
Unfortunately, I haven't asked what happens if God loses the bet, because things seem to be headed that way

I can give you a reasonably intellectual reason why there's so much suffering.
(If) One axiomatically accepts the existence of a creator/deity.
Even with the biblical stores being take at face value about "creation", one must accept that the "Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil" was put their with the intention that Adam/Eve would eat from it. It didn't matter whether it was a day - a year - a thousand years - sooner or later they were intended to eat from it. Why?
Let's suppose they didn't. Then what would have happened in the world? Well . . . nothing! Adam and Eve and the animals and everything else would have just gone on effortlessly eating and multiplying. Overall, very pointless.
Now, forget about the existence of a so-called devil. If one's accepted deity is THE Supreme Being then there can be no opposition. Period. No absurd bets or anything. So what's it all about then?
Recall that I said that the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil was put their deliberately to be eaten? Now, with a knowledge of good and evil, doing either becomes a choice. So, what will mankind do? Languish as before eating "the apple" ? Well, now we have options!
SO - if you were the creator of a sentient, mainly, you'd stay out of things and see how it develops. Will man become ever more despicable a creation? Some do. Perhaps, instead, he will rise above just bare existence and give of himself to help others "above and beyond the call" as they say. Now, as a deity, you have a creation with a purpose - to rise or fall, rather than just rot in paradise. How will it turn out? That could be interesting when free will is thrown in.
So - sh*t happens. Not only natural phenomena but of our own doing. How do we respond? Which side of The Force will you embrace, so-to-speak?
Already too long, but I'll throw in one more tidbit to consider: if Adam and Eve did not know the difference between good and evil until eating that apple, then eating that apple could not have been a sin. They were, for all practical purposes, infants in that regard. Also, "creations" could have been "no more" than creating the laws of physics, using entropy as a driving force, and give the universe a push-start. That, to me, is more fantastic and glorious a creator's design then the old-school versions.

That sounds like fun for a creator, and I might do it too were I it, but you can hardly argue it's benevolent and loving.
Or perhaps, in its eyes, give or take 100 years of occasional suffering for the 'experiment' is nothing compared to an eternal afterlife in heaven.

Prophets may have dreams, stories and folk-law take one a life and certainty of their own. But it is not so written. I hope it's so - but it's just mankind's hope that there's more to ones consciousness when the body returns to dust.
